Bruegger’s Bakery-Café Opens First Military Base Location

Neighborhood favorite to bring authentic New York-style bagels, healthy options to Naval Base San Diego;  Second Naval Base San Diego location to open in February

January 24, 2012 // Franchising.com // SAN DIEGO – A landmark Bruegger’s bakery- café will open today at Naval Base San Diego through a joint agreement between Bruegger’s and Navy Exchange Service Command. The new restaurant will be the first Bruegger’s bakery at a U.S. military base.

The 3,313-square-foot bakery will offer sailors and Naval Base San Diego employees Bruegger’s full menu including genuine New York-style bagels, hearty soups, sandwiches and panini, desserts and other signature breakfast and lunch items. Guests may also order from the bakery’s Under 500 Calorie menu, which includes skinny bagels (thinly sliced), soups, sandwiches and salads.

“Our new location at Naval Base San Diego is a true partnership and achieves the mission of improving the daily experience for the people who live and work on the base,” said Bruegger’s Vice President of Franchise Development Chris Cheek. “We look forward to providing great food and service to those who make sacrifices for our national security.”

The bakery, located just inside the main gate in building 3405, features indoor seating for 82, patio seating for 28, Wi-Fi and a convenient drive-thru window. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A second Bruegger’s location on Naval Base San Diego, scheduled to open in February, will be a store-front express in the Pacific Beacon privatized bachelor housing area.
