H&R Block Goes Mobile With Free Federal 1040EZ and State Tax Prep New Mobile Filing App Features Free Offer Through Feb. 29

KANSAS CITY, MO, Jan 27, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --H&R Block (NYSE: HRB) today launched its new tax preparation filing app for the iPhone and Android smartphones with a great offer for tax filers this season. This new "on-the-go" tax filing option features a free simple federal tax and state tax return through Feb. 29.

The H&R Block At Home(TM) smartphone app is free to download and offers the same H&R Block guarantees of free audit support, free audit representation, accurate calculations and the maximum tax refund to which the taxpayer is entitled.

Using the smartphone app, filers can easily complete a federal 1040EZ and state return by photographing their W-2 to automatically import data into the app. Generally, a 1040EZ filer is a taxpayer filing as single or married filing jointly who does not pay mortgage interest, has no dependents and earned less than $100,000 last year.

In addition to the 1040EZ form, filers with more complex tax returns can complete a federal 1040 or 1040A form with the iPad tablet app at no cost all season.

"Through the end of February, H&R Block is offering an entirely free federal 1040EZ and state tax return using our smartphone mobile filing app. That's a great offer that's tough to beat," said Jason Houseworth, H&R Block's president of digital tax solutions. "We're extending this offer because we want to invite taxpayers to try our new mobile app. We're confident they will have a great experience."

H&R Block's tax professionals provide guaranteed tax return preparation services in-person at retail tax offices open year-round and through Block Live(SM), the only face-to-face online tax preparation experience available in the industry. Do-it-yourself filers benefit from the expertise and guidance of The Tax Institute at H&R Block when using H&R Block At Home(TM) on their computers, tablets and smart phones. Because understanding taxes is an integral part of managing personal finances, H&R Block keeps the conversation going with clients all year via blogs, tweets and Facebook status updates.
