Cooney Co-Authors How to Book for Would Be Attorneys

February 22, 2012 // Franchising.com // Uniondale, Long Island, New York – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that associate attorney and former United States District Court law clerk, John J. Cooney, co-authored a new book which creates a step-by-step approach to understanding and passing the New York State bar exam. The book entitled, “The New York Bar Exam by the Issues," and published by Thomson Reuters West, was co-authored with Suzanne Darrow-Kleinhaus and Myra Berman.

"This 596 page book, which represents years of intensive research, promises to be the best guide in many years on how to tackle the challenges of the New York exam. It offers a comprehensive road map for analyzing questions and for reading, outlining and writing essays," Cooney said. The book recently shipped to area law schools and Cooney remarked that the results have been fantastic at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he is an adjunct professor and teaches “American Legal Studies Practicum,” a course that provides intensive instruction to maximize students’ legal writing and analysis skills and to prepare them for answering bar examination questions. “The breadth of research and amount of writing and editing required to produce the book was astounding,” said Cooney. “I am honored that professor Darrow-Kleinhaus and professor Berman invited me to join them in their passion for teaching and helping students.”

Cooney, a resident of Northport, is a member of the Health Law Department, White Collar Crime and Investigations and Digital Media practice groups, and the Municipal and Government Affairs Department. He has successfully represented clients in a wide variety of sophisticated cases, including criminal and civil litigation involving federal and state authorities as well as complex government procurement proposals and disputes. Cooney recently returned to the Firm after serving a year as Law Clerk to the Honorable Joseph F. Bianco in the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York.
