February 22, 2012 // Franchising.com // MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – Retired United States Air Force (USAF) Colonel Mark Kelly and his wife Dawn Kelly, a former systems analyst for the USAF, look to the next phase of their lives as the first veteran franchisees to participate in TeamLogic IT’s recently announced Veterans Program. The couple, who shares a combined 30-plus years of military service in the USAF, is the first of 10 qualified military veterans to have the $40,000 franchise fee waived as a part of the TeamLogic IT Veterans Program.
According to the Small Business Association (SBA), about a quarter of the country's 23.5 million veterans are interested in starting or buying their own business. After retiring from the military and subsequently earning a masters degree in Engineering, Mark was searching for the next step in his professional career that would complement his extensive experience. The answer came in the form of franchising.
“The TeamLogic IT franchise gives us the opportunity to become business owners, with the added security of a proven business model and support system,” said Mark. “Both Dawn and I will be able to use our experiences, hers in technology and mine in leadership, to run our business and that is what really drew us to TeamLogic IT, along with their no-franchisee fee program for Veterans.”
Mark’s 25 year military career includes over 3,000 flying hours in F-111, F-4, and F-15E fighter aircraft, the 1989 Robbie Risner award as an outstanding graduate of the USAF Fighter Weapons School, and participation in three major American war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan including Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Dawn is a multi-certified expert in information technology (IT), who also spent eight years in the USAF as a systems analyst.
As a leading national provider of comprehensive computer-based services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), the Kelly’s hope to emulate TeamLogic IT’s ‘pay it forward’ attitude by offering their location’s services to LifeQuest Military Transitions, a veteran’s assistance program in Colorado Springs, and eventually hiring other veterans.
“All of us at TeamLogic IT are elated to have two individuals on board with us who have served our country considerably. Their combined experience with leadership and IT makes them the perfect fit for a TeamLogic IT franchise,” said Chuck Lennon, president of TeamLogic IT.
The TeamLogic IT Veterans Program is open to the first 10 U.S. military veterans who apply and qualify for a TeamLogic IT franchise between January 1 and December 31, 2012. All applicants must have a desire to work with technology and have access to a minimum of $70,000 working capital.
Interested veterans should visit the “Franchise Opportunities” section of www.teamlogicit.com, e-mail email@example.com, or call Victoria Brox at 866-TeamLogicIT and identify themselves as a U.S. military veteran.
