Krispy Kreme Kicks Off Glaze The Nation Tour 2012
Krispy Kreme Cruiser, Fan Events, and giveaways kick-off 75th Birthday Celebrations
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Feb. 23, 2012 // PRNewswire // -- On February 23, at a festive fan event in Daytona Beach, FL that included hundreds of fans and appearances from former NASCAR drivers Kyle, Richard and Austin Petty, Krispy Kreme unveiled the Krispy Kreme Cruiser -- taking its 75th Birthday celebrations on the road with the first stop of a fun-filled and fan engaging Glaze The Nation Tour. Krispy Kreme fans can find and follow the Krispy Kreme Cruiser at GlazeTheNationTour.com.
Reminiscent of the early years when Krispy Kreme would mobilize its small fleet of delivery trucks to bring its signature doughnuts to fans of all ages, The Krispy Kreme Cruiser is a newly restored and bowtie branded 1960 Flxible Starliner helmed by Krispy Kreme brand ambassadors who will guide the sweet ride across the country inviting fans to join in the 75th birthday celebration of the world's most famous doughnut.
"Because our purpose is to 'touch and enhance lives through the joy that is Krispy Kreme' we felt it was important to get out of our shops and take the party on the road," explains Dwayne Chambers, Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme. "We searched the entire country to find a vehicle that had just the right balance of nostalgia, retro and cool. There were a lot of possibilities, but our search always seemed to come back to the Flxible."
Operated for Krispy Kreme by Richard Childress Racing, over the next few months the Krispy Kreme Cruiser will make nearly 500 stops at local fairs and festivals, Krispy Kreme shops, a myriad of major events in 37 states, and surprise and delight fans at spontaneous stops along the way with fun and games, prizes and giveaways, and Krispy Kreme's one-of-a kind treats.
Outfitted with a GeoNavigator, Krispy Kreme Cruiser followers can track its whereabouts in real-time, view pictures, videos and blogs, and interact with the Cruiser Tour Guides at GlazeTheNationTour.com.
April and Kelvin Locklear, Owners of Mooresville, NC based Outcast Kustoms, and their team of Pro Race Drivers Ron Hornaday and Ted Musgrave led the restoration of the Krispy Kreme Cruiser.
