New Fresh Coat Painters Franchise Comes to St. Louis
Julie Glaser sees the launch of her Fresh Coat Painters franchise as an opportunity to use her passion for home decorating and her experience with remodeling to her clients’ benefit.
Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) February 23, 2012 - With the launch of her Fresh Coat Painters franchise in Kirkwood, Mo., just west of St. Louis, Julie Glaser welcomes the chance to merge her creative talents with her project management skills to benefit the community where she and her family have made their home for more than 20 years. “I’ve interviewed and screened a lot of people through the years. I’ve got a woman’s perspective about these things ….” As part of the new business opening, she’ll host a booth at this weekend’s Builders Home & Garden Show in downtown St. Louis.
Through those years, the Glasers have lived in numerous homes, and each time they’ve moved, Julie has taken on the challenge of being a general contractor. In addition, she has volunteered with committees at her daughters’ schools and created her own jewelry to sell at art festivals. With her daughters grown, she was ready for a new challenge when her husband, E.J., introduced her to Fresh Coat Painters because he saw it as an excellent opportunity to utilize her diverse abilities.
“I've always enjoyed home decorating, and I just love what paint can do,” Julie said. “It’s the fastest, least expensive way to alter the feel of a space. Just walking into a freshly painted room can elevate your mood. It’s fun to see what a change it can bring.”
Her enthusiasm for the artistic is complemented by her practicality.
“I’ve gained a lot of insights first-hand,” she said, noting the importance of hiring quality people, using long-lasting materials, setting accurate schedules, and evaluating the finished work.
Bernie Brozek, president of Fresh Coat Painters, said this range of knowledge bodes well for Glaser’s success and matches well with the company’s business model.
“Like our other owners, Julie understands that painting isn’t just about painting. It’s about the client’s entire experience,” he said. “To help ensure they get the best of everyone involved, our structure calls for the owners to promote the business while professional client service managers and experienced painters – employees, never subcontractors – complete the projects. Our focus is on client satisfaction.”
That structure resonated for the Glasers.
With her hands-on experience in remodeling and redecorating, Julie knows the importance of having people you trust in your home. “I’ve interviewed and screened a lot of people through the years. I’ve got a woman’s perspective about these things, so I require a certain level of professionalism.”
E.J. added that he has seen the damage subcontractors can do to a company’s reputation when they don’t do the job completely or correctly.
“We also know people who have had things stolen from their homes by workers,” he said. “I think it’s important that we can say to clients that our employees have passed background checks, and they’re bonded and insured.”
Julie considers it Fresh Coat’s best selling point. “We want good employees, and we can offer then steady work. That allows us to hire the pick of the crop. We can hire experts.”
Her first employee, for example, has more than 12 years of experience as a professional painter, she said, but he did not want to do the marketing side of the business. “He enjoys painting.”
Brozek said that many painters express similar appreciation for the company’s business model.
“Painting is a high-demand industry, but there are way too many fly-by-night operators,” he said. “Our painters like the stability of an organized, professional operation where they know they’ll have work year-round. And, we help promote that stability through supportive tools for our franchise owners.”
Among those are several that directly assist clients including a 24/7 call center, the proprietary EPIC estimating system, Paint Now-Pay Later same-as-cash financing, Automatic Touch-Up for businesses, and fund-raising opportunities for charities.
“The Paint Now-Pay Later program offers a real benefit,” Julie said. “Fresh paint can make a big difference when you’re trying to sell a home, so Realtors appreciate knowing that their clients can get the work done and not pay until closing.”
The EPIC system also proves to be impressive, E.J. said. “Most painters just come in, look around, and throw out an estimate. We use a laser to get an accurate measurement of the space, then we enter the data into our computer, calculate the time and the costs, and give the client a printed statement on the spot with details of the job and a firm price that includes the cost of paint. No surprises later.”
Julie sees her new business as another sign of her dedication to Kirkwood and St. Louis. “I’m excited to be able to launch in the place where we raised our kids and to be a job creator here. We love our community and want to be part of helping to keep it strong.”
With the launch of the franchise, the Glasers will participate in the 35th Annual Builders Home & Garden Show Feb. 23-26 at the America’s Center and Edward Jones Dome in downtown St. Louis.
