SYNERGY HomeCare Franchise Owner Honored with National Association of Home Care and Hospice Board Membership

Mitch Opalski Newest Board Member for National Association for Home Care and Hospice

Gilbert, Ariz. (PRWEB) February 28, 2012 - SYNERGY HomeCare of Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia owner Mitch Opalski was elected to the Board of Directors for the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC).

NAHC, the largest professional association for in-home care, advocates for accessibility, quality, and political viability of home care and will benefit from the expertise and dedication of its new board member. Though the opportunity to join NAHC’s Board of Directors has been opened to Opalski in the past, he instead opted to focus on providing care directly to his community.

While serving as NAHC’s Vice President of Finance and then Chief Operating Officer, Opalski developed a deep passion for home care. He decided after six years there to take on the position of directly providing in-home care to individuals and families in his community. He was among the first franchise partners for SYNERGY HomeCare, and has since demonstrated the value of compassionate care for Arlington and Alexandria residents.

“I certainly feel that I get to help people every day,” says Opalski. “It is a blessing.”

Opalski now feels that his business is in the right place for him to devote the time required to fulfill his position on NAHC’s Board of Directors. Opalski represents constituents in the Mid-Atlantic region of Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia and Delaware. With fellow board members, he provides high level governance of the organization including committee work.

Opalski is also an advocate of the Private Duty Homecare Association and is currently working with the Department of Labor and representatives on Capitol Hill to overturn the amendment proposal for overtime pay exemptions for professional caregivers. He enjoys once again working closely with his NAHC colleagues for the betterment of the home care industry and enhancing the access and quality of home care throughout the nation.

“It is a wonderful thing to be able to receive care in your home,” says Opalski. “I believe in the mission of NAHC to ‘bring health care back home where it belongs’. For so many people, home care is a privilege they cannot afford, whereas it should be a service available and accessible to all.”
