Northern Virginia Real Estate Company Teams up with George Mason University

Northern Virginia Real Estate Company Hosts George Mason University Graduate Students to Focus on Strategic Knowledge Management and Collaborative Technologies

Ashburn, VA (PRWEB) March 13, 2012 - RE/MAX Select Properties, a Northern Virginia Real Estate Company, recently partnered with George Mason University to work with graduate students pursuing a master’s degree in Organizational Development and Knowledge Management (ODKM) in the School of Public Policy. The consulting team from George Mason University is working with RE/MAX Select Properties for projects in two courses: Strategic Knowledge Management and Collaborative Technology for Sharing Knowledge.

The graduate students will be exploring areas including knowledge transfer, business practices, and creating and sharing knowledge in a real estate organization. As these areas are being explored students will examine ways in which collaborative technologies can be used to support knowledge management at RE/MAX Select Properties.

The students come from a wide range of backgrounds including technology start-ups, government consulting, human resources, professional recruiting, and even one active duty Army Officer. The entire student project is expected to encompass approximately two hundred and fifty hours of total consulting time. At the end of the project two large presentations will be given at George Mason University in late April. Faculty, students, and the management team from RE/MAX Select Properties will be present at the presentation.

“This is an incredible opportunity for both RE/MAX Select Properties and George Mason University. We really look forward to being able to support the learning of these students,” said Broker/Owner Jim Stakem. He went on to say, “These students have a lot business and work experience, and we expect to incorporate many of their recommendations into our business processes.”

“There is no substitute for the knowledge and experience our graduate-professional students acquire when they do projects inside organizations. Even though their work benefits everyone involved, people on the inside have to be willing to help them. So, we are particularly grateful when an organization like RE/MAX Select Properties opens its doors to a group of students”, said Associate Professor of Public Policy, Mark Addleson.
