Georgia (PRWEB) March 21, 2012 - 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has partnered with Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity, on the campaign "Turn up The Sole, Georgia!" that is aiming to collect 100,000 pairs of gently worn and new shoes this spring. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and Soles4Souls are also teaming up on a national level, but this is the first state-wide campaign of its kind.
“We’re thrilled that we are able to use our resources to give back to the local and global community,” says Deserie McCauley, franchise partner in Atlanta. “It’s already in our mandate to recycle and donate as much as we can, so having a partner like Soles4Souls gives us the perfect opportunity to do this on a larger scale.”
The award-winning junk removal company is volunteering their time and trucks to pick up, transport and drop off the shoes at designated locations. The drive is timed from March 15 to May 15 to correspond with Earth Day celebrations. The shoes will then be distributed by Soles4Souls to those in need, notably for crisis relief and micro-enterprise programs.
Not only will the initiative provide footwear to keep impoverished individuals healthy and clean, but it will help keep waste and toxic glues out of the landfill.
1-800-GOT-JUNK? will pick up shoes in many parts of Northwest and Southeast Georgia, but there are options for pickups all over the state. Find out how you or your organization can get involved here.

Soles4Souls collects new shoes to give relief to the victims of abject suffering and collects used shoes to support micro-enterprise efforts to eradicate poverty. Soles4Souls’ other two divisions, Clothes4Souls and Hope4Souls, provide the same relief and support through clothing and other necessities. Donating parties are eligible for tax advantages.
