VooDoo BBQ Makes Big Splash in South Carolina

First VooDoo Location Outside Louisiana Draws Thousands, Rave Reviews

GREENVILLE, SC--(Marketwire - Mar 29, 2012) - Since its grand opening in late February, the new VooDoo BBQ & Grill on Woodruff Road has welcomed and fed thousands with competition-style barbecue and mouth-watering side dishes -- and the word is spreading.

"The store, VooDoo BBQ's first location outside Louisiana, draws about 1,200 diners per week. That number grows by about 50 every week," said Dino Arvanetes, the New Orleans-based franchise system's chief operating officer.

"We've seen a lot of repeat business and people coming back and bringing their friends by, which is always good," he said. "Since we opened, everything has gone really smoothly -- everyone I've talked to has really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. They've told me how much they enjoy all our menu options and the unique flavor of the food and our side dishes.

"So everything's gone really great. We couldn't have asked for a better experience to start our expansion."

Baton Rouge native Patrick Kerr and his development firm, Kerr Management, LLC, has reached a deal with VooDoo BBQ to open eight locations in the Carolinas over the next five years.

"I was counting on people here to embrace VooDoo's unique flavor and New Orleans-style fun, and the response has surpassed my expectations," Kerr said. "From opening day, the folks in Greenville have made us feel at home and shown a real appreciation for good barbecue with a Louisiana twist served in a fast casual environment. This is only the beginning of a great relationship between VooDoo and the Carolinas."

Several hundred people showed up for the Woodruff Road location's grand opening, which featured a live radio broadcast, a face painter and live music in the evening.

The Greenville store is at 1717 Woodruff Rd., Greenville, S.C. 29615; call (864) 631-1975 for information or to place an order. It's open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
