PNC Bank and Miami University Enter Into Agreement To Provide Banking Services To Students and Employees

Agreement establishes PNC as school’s official provider of student refunds

March 30, 2012 // Franchising.com // OXFORD, Ohio - PNC Bank, N.A., and Miami University announced today a new banking relationship that enhances Miami’s ongoing efforts to create efficient and cost-effective methods of operations and provide new banking services for students, faculty and staff.

The agreement includes the creation of a new electronic system to provide refund options for Miami students. The seamless and secure electronic system makes transactions easier and faster for students, and significantly lowers the school’s transaction costs. Miami had requested proposals for comprehensive banking and financial consulting services in Fall 2011.

“We are placing an emphasis on continuous improvement, as we develop our relationship with a banking institution that can help us determine, implement and promote more efficient practices. We also want to ensure that our students and employees have access to banking services at little or no cost at a time when many banks are proposing higher fees,” said David Creamer, vice president for finance and business services at Miami.

As part of the agreement, PNC will offer workshops on personal financial management at the school’s three Ohio campuses. Topics covered will include basic banking, credit management, savings and investing, identity protection and home buying.

Additional features of the agreement will include:

  • Personal banking products and services including Virtual Wallet® Student, an online banking solution specially designed to help college students help themselves with money management, along with mobile and text banking options.
  • Full service on-campus branch located in the Shriver Center. Renovations will begin soon with completion expected this summer.
  • A total of seven on-campus cash-dispensing ATMs, to be located in the Shriver Center (2), Harris Dining Hall, Martin Dining Hall and Goggin Ice Arena; as well as one each on the Hamilton and Middletown Campuses.
  • Customized website at www.pnc.com/miamioh hosted by PNC, where students and employees will be able to complete account applications and find financial educational information.

"PNC will bring greater service, innovative banking technology and convenience to Miami University students, alumni, faculty and staff with our university banking program," said Kay Geiger, regional president for PNC Bank in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. "We provide financial education and money management tools to help students form sound financial habits through their college years and into their adult lives."
