April 11, 2012 // Franchising.com // Montgomery County, MD – Current Flippin’ Pizza franchisee, Brett Silver, has signed on a new development agreement with the brand, to open 7 new locations in Montgomery County, Maryland. Brett Silver was the first multi-unit franchisee with the fast-growing Flippin’ Pizza concept. He currently owns and operates four locations throughout the MD and Washington, D.C. area, as well as four locations in the Washington Nationals stadium, for which he is expecting a big season this year! The plan is for all seven stores to be open within the next 4 years, with the first one opening in the next 3-6 months. He does not yet have a lease signed for the first site, but is focusing his search on real estate in the Germantown area. Brett refers to himself as a “New York guy who loves New York pizza, and wanted to bring it to the MD/D.C. area”.
Patrick Farley, Founder and CEO of Flippin’ Pizza, says of Silver, “He is the exemplary Flippin’ Pizza franchisee, and we look forward to working with him on continuing our East Coast expansion. We have confidence in the stores that will be developed under his agreement.”
He is a 30-year veteran of the food and beverage industry, including running multiple pizzerias in New York City. He then went on to manage concessions at the Washington Redskins FedEx Field and the Washington Nationals Park. His tagline for his current and future Maryland stores is “It’s a Flippin’ Day in Maryland”.
Silver has found great success with the brand and truly believes in the Flippin’ Pizza product. He is quoted as saying “It really is the perfect pie”. As far as working with the franchisor, Silver said, “Flippin’ ownership is the best of the best – they have attention to detail and are very hands on with their franchisees’ success. As someone hailing from New York, I would highly recommend this brand to anyone looking to open a fast casual pizza franchise – they offer the highest quality product and brand management.”

Flippin’ Pizza uses an authentic recipe originated in New York City to produce their signature 18-inch pies. The menu is anchored by nine “Classic Pies,” incorporating both red and white pies with an array of premium toppings besides cheese and pepperoni, including all-natural ones such as pesto, artichoke hearts, fresh basil, fresh marinated roasted red peppers, meatballs, gorgonzola cheese and others. The dough is made fresh daily, without any added oil, sugar or high-fructose corn syrup, and then hand-tossed to produce a thin, airy crust. Flippin’ also uses a custom NY filtration system to replicate the famous NY water. In addition to the first-class pies, Flippin’ Pizza is also known for their signature chopped salads, calzones and garlic knots. The restaurants are family friendly – children get a free dough ball while they watch the pie makers hand toss and prepare their pizzas. Flippin’ Pizza is also famous for their Flippin’ Pizza truck known as the “restaurant on wheels.”
The Washington Post says Flippin’ Pizza has “damn good pizza.” Flippin’ has also been the recipient of numerous consumer awards, including Northern Virginia Magazine’s Best Pizza for 2010, Washingtonian Magazine’s Best Pizza for 2009, Best Pizza of Falls Church for 2010, and multiple Best Pizza for San Diego accolades.
Flippin’ Pizza has a firm commitment to being a socially responsible company, with formalized fundraising partnerships with organizations like the Tony Hawk foundation, and regional schools and educational programs.
