Boston Pizza will ‘feed the fans’ if a Canadian team brings home the Cup.

April 12, 2012 // Franchising.com // MISSISSAUGA, ON – The road to a 2012 Stanley Cup victory could be paved with gourmet pizza for Canada’s two playoff bound NHL teams and their hometown fans. With the 2012 playoffs beginning today, Boston Pizza International is announcing its commitment to ‘feed the fans’ with 10,000 free pizzas should a Canadian team bring home the Cup. Known as a destination for the perfect playoff food and sports bar atmosphere, Boston Pizza is giving Cup-hungry fans of the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators a tasty reason to cheer their teams to victory.

“As a proud Canadian brand and supporters of hockey from coast-to-coast, we share in the excitement and anticipation that come with the playoff season,” said Steve Silverstone, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Boston Pizza International. “Whether your team is in or out, one thing Canadian hockey fans can all agree on is that the Cup is due to return to Canada. This is our way of showing our passion for the game in a big, Boston Pizza-style way. And, what’s a celebration without great food?”

Anticipation has been building since 1993, when the Montreal Canadiens became the last Canadian team to lift the Cup. Boston Pizza hopes its show of support will excite and unite hockey fans in supporting Vancouver and Ottawa in their quest to bring the Cup home for the first time in nearly two decades.

As Canada’s leading sports bar and a proud supporter of the game, Boston Pizza is prepared to dish out more than 10,000 individual-sized pizzas to fans in the winning Canadian city. Exact details of the giveaway will be provided as the playoffs progress.

During the 2010-2011 playoffs, Boston Pizza boldly re-branded its Montreal and Vancouver-area stores to ‘Montreal Pizza’ and ‘Vancouver Pizza’ when the teams faced-off against the Boston Bruins.
