Surrey Pizza Maker Competing To Keep World's Fastest Title

World’s fastest pizza maker, Domino's Pizza franchisee Pali Grewal, will return to Las Vegas to defend his title.

(PRWEB UK) 19 April 2012 - Pali Grewal, a Domino’s Pizza franchisee from Surrey, is preparing to return to Las Vegas next month [May] in a bid to retain the prestigious title of the World’s Fastest Pizza Maker.

Pali from Camberley first scooped the title in 2010 for the biennial World’s Fastest Pizza Maker competition. He beat off stiff competition from across the globe to make three large pizzas in an impressive 39.1 seconds – that’s just 13 seconds per pizza! Pali set a new world record and claimed the title for the UK for the first time in the competition’s history.

Next month, Pali will return to Las Vegas for the competition in a bid to retain his title. He has been training hard – spending as much time as he can in-store making pizzas for customers and practising the three pizzas required for the competition every other day in preparation. He can’t wait to get back to take on pizza makers from across the world once more.

Pali Grewal, World’s Fastest Pizza Maker, said: “I’ve been making pizzas since I was 13 and to win the World’s Fastest title in 2010 was the culmination of thousands of hours of practise, hard work and dedication. Now that I have the title, I’m more determined than ever to keep it! I can’t wait to get to Las Vegas and take on the competitors. 2012 will be the 30th anniversary of the competition so it will mean even more to me if I can bring the trophy back to the UK again.”

Domino’s began the “World’s Fastest Pizza Maker” competition in 1982 to honour pizza makers who best exemplify the company’s philosophy of keeping efficiency in the store to allow sufficient time for safe, timely pizza delivery.

Finalists from Domino’s stores around the world have to hand-stretch fresh dough, sauce and top three large pizzas – one pepperoni, one mushroom and one cheese – as quickly as possible. While speed is important, it is only part of the recipe. Quality is hotly scrutinised as two judges inspect the stretching of the dough, application of the sauce and portioning of toppings during the competition. If the pizza is not perfect, it is returned to the competitor to remake the entire pizza, while still being timed.

World’s Fastest Pizza Maker 2012 will take place on Wednesday May 16, 2012 in Las Vegas. For more information on Domino’s Pizza, log onto http://www.dominos.co.uk.
