New Card Connection Franchisee for Aylesbury and Amersham
May 04, 2012 // Franchising.com // Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection, has announced new franchisee, Ratna Sivaganesh, has taken over the Aylesbury and Amersham territory. Ratna Sivaganesh who now runs the franchise with his wife, supplies Card Connection’s extensive range of quality greeting cards and gifts to around 160 retailers in the region.
“We are delighted that Ratna Sivaganesh has decided to take advantage of the important business opportunity that owning a Card Connection franchise provides,” confirms Michael Johnson, managing director at Card Connection. “Ratna’s previous experience as a Spar supermarket manager makes him ideally placed to run a successful franchise, as he understands the needs of consumers and can bring this knowledge to a range of retail outlets, to help them optimise the sales of greeting cards.”
“I first heard about Card Connection when I managed the Spar outlet,” explains Sivaganesh. “I was impressed by the quality of the products and at the same time was keen to run my own business. Therefore, when the area became available, I jumped at the chance to buy the franchise which now allows me to supply the leading products in the marketplace. I know from my experience as retail manager the greeting cards sell really well and the huge range of more than 1,500 cards, constantly being updated by Card Connection’s in-house design department, ensures I can always create a fresh, new look for displays to keep consumers interested.
“The head office staff have been particularly supportive to ensure my franchise has got up and running quickly,” continues Sivaganesh. “This was important, as I am already keen to expand. There is plenty of opportunity to grow the business and I know my Card Connection franchise manager will help me realise these future plans.”
Card Connection’s team of franchisees hand pick and deliver greeting cards from a range of innovative designs including: Santé, humour, handmade and special occasions cards. Using a proven system, franchisees place greeting card ranges in retail outlets on a ‘consignment’ basis. The award winning merchandising service provided to retailers by local franchisees is second to none and has established the company’s excellent reputation especially within the convenience sector.
Card Connection is part of UK Greetings, which is a subsidiary of the largest publicly owned greeting card publisher in the world and has limited vacancies for franchisees who are keen to run an expanding business. Suitable candidates would ideally have some management experience as, once established, and depending on the size of the territory, they could be expected to employ a small team, operate a small warehouse and have several liveried vans on the road.
Since the franchise network in the UK is complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already-established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £20k (+stock) with earnings potential in excess of £50k per annum.
