Costa Vida Wins Best of State 2012 for Mexican/Latin American Casual Dining

Honor Marks Third Consecutive Year Winning Category

May 18, 2012 // // SALT LAKE CITY – Costa Vida Restaurants, one of the nation’s fastest growing fast casual dining concepts,was named the winner in the Best Mexican/Latin American Casual Dining category for Utah’s Best of State Awards for 2012. Now in the tenth year, the Utah Best of State Awards Program recognizes excellence in a wide variety of industry sectors including business, entertainment, education, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, technology, and sports.

The Best of State Awards Program is dedicated to recognizing and promoting outstanding individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout Utah.

According to Best of State Chief Executive Officer Dana Layton, winners of the 2012 Best of State Awards have been rated and judged on their impact on the community, excellence and achievement, and innovation and originality. “It has been exciting to watch Costa Vida grow and expand over the last year,” said Layton. “The strong commitment of excellence to their customers really shows with the success they continue to see. We are looking forward to seeing what Costa Vida has planned for the upcoming year.”

“We’re honored to receive this award for the third year in a row,” said Costa Vida Executive Chef Dave Prows. “The Costa team is committed to providing the freshest food in a friendly and fun environment. We have worked hard to provide a variety of flavorful, baja-inspired dishes, and our menu full of gluten-free options sets us apart from the competition,” said Prows.

“It is an exciting time for Costa Vida. In 2011 we achieved 74% unit growth, and are aggressively working on further expansion opportunities,” said Dave Rutter, Costa Vida CEO.

An independent judging process, featuring judges with category-specific credentials, has resulted in a confidential tabulation of results by the Gilbert & Stewart accounting firm. The awards will be presented at a formal Awards Gala presentation on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.
