Fast-Growing Nutritional Retailer Once Again Opens Door to Franchising

Complete Nutrition Lifts Strategic Freeze, Will Open 125 Stores in Next Three Years

OMAHA, Neb., May 22, 2012 // GLOBE NEWSWIRE // -- After intentionally halting all franchise expansion in 2011, Complete Nutrition, the nation's fastest-growing nutritional supplement retailer, has recently re-launched its franchise program and will continue to expand the health and fitness brand across the country.

Complete Nutrition, which saw its revenue grow from $5 million in 2008 to a projected $100 million in 2012, added more than 80 stores from 2010 to 2011 as its system expanded from 19 to more than 100 locations. Company executives responded to the rapid growth by proactively freezing new franchise development so it could adequately support existing franchisees and maintain the integrity of the brand known for taking a personal and consultative approach to health and fitness.

"The development freeze was our responsible solution to the surge in new franchise growth we experienced last year," said Ryan Zink, Complete Nutrition president. "Taking this break allowed us to bring in some of the brightest minds in the business and franchise world, which has enhanced our infrastructure so we can grow smart."

In the past 24 months alone, Complete Nutrition has grown its corporate support staff from five to 50 employees. The company has brought in seasoned executives from high-profile companies such as VP of Marketing Amy Bailey, who has held executive-level positions at Kraft Foods and Applebee's; Chief Financial Officer Brian Breen, who previously served as VP & Treasurer of Oriental Trading Company; and Anton Ames, who has worked for Hallmark Cards and several leading health care organizations. Sheldon Harris of P3 Consulting Group, who previously helped grow Cold Stone Creamery as president, now leads Complete Nutrition's development team.

The break from franchise growth also allowed Complete Nutrition to analyze the characteristics of its strongest-performing franchisees. Zink says the most successful franchisees are people who are passionate about health and fitness -- not necessarily those with the most business experience. These are the individuals being targeted during this new growth phase, he added.

Complete Nutrition will have opened 40 new stores this year by the end of 2012, bringing the total across the U.S. to 165 locations. In the next three years, Complete Nutrition expects to add 125 more stores, through agreements which are already signed. Key markets for expansion include Beaumont-Port Arthur, Tex., Jackson, Miss., Texarkana, Tex., El Paso, Tex., Montgomery, Ala., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., among others.

"We've made a name for ourselves in the industry by working closely with individuals to achieve their health and fitness goals," said Cory Wiedel, who founded Complete Nutrition in 2004 in Omaha, Neb. "We're ready once again to partner with qualified franchisees who want to help us grow our footprint and give people the tools to live healthier and more fulfilling lives."

Complete Nutrition, which offers more than 200 different exclusive-branded products in spacious, open and orderly settings, is building a large following and differentiating itself from competitors through its consultative approach to nutritional supplements. Most Complete Nutrition stores employ only certified personal trainers, former strength coaches and others experienced in health and fitness who offer knowledgeable advice.
