Häagen-Dazs® Shops Selected as a Top Military Friendly Franchise®

G.I. Jobs Magazine Names Häagen-Dazs® Shops to Its Prestigious 2012 List of Military Friendly Franchises®; Popular Ice Cream Brand Ranks in the Top 10 Percent of Franchises Nationwide

May 30, 2012 // Franchising.com // MINNEAPOLIS  – Häagen-Dazs® Shops, known for its pure, super premium ice cream, has been named a top Military Friendly Franchise® by G.I. Jobs magazine for 2012.

The magazine’s prestigious Military Friendly Franchises® list identifies franchises that demonstrate the best practices in recruiting military members as franchisees. This honor ranks Häagen-Dazs Shops in the top 10 percent of all franchises nationwide.

“We’re honored to be named a top Military Friendly Franchise by G.I. Jobs,” said Dawn Uremovich, president of Häagen-Dazs Shops. “As a company that began and is still currently based in the U.S., we are extremely passionate about supporting our nation’s military members. Our franchise can provide a solid business to the men and women who serve our country and we look forward to further growing our program for these military members.”

Committed to helping veterans transition into small business ownership, military members receive a 25 percent discount on the initial franchise fee. Additionally, if a military veteran owns at least two or more different food franchise concepts, for more than two years, they will receive an additional $2,500 discount off the franchise fee.

The Military Friendly Franchises list is determined through extensive research by the G.I. Jobs Military Friendly Franchises team, which included a comprehensive survey of more than 4,000 franchises. The survey questioned the following key areas in each franchise system: the number and percent of veteran-owned franchises, programs and policies in place that measure a franchise’s non-financial efforts to recruit and retain military veterans, and a franchise’s financial efforts to recruit and retain military veterans.

“The Military Friendly Franchises list was created three years ago out of demand from military veterans, many of whom want to start or own their own business but are unclear where to begin,” said Sean Collins, the Director of G.I. Jobs. “Being selected as a Military Friendly Franchise places Häagen-Dazs Shops in this elite group, and is a testimony to its world class programs and policies that support military veterans interested in franchise opportunities.”

In addition to its signature irresistible ice cream creations, the internationally-recognized brand offers a unique selection of sorbets, frozen yogurts, frozen beverages and a variety of indulgent frozen desserts including delicious fruit smoothies and Dazzler ice cream treats.
