Faegre Baker Daniels Honors Life and Legacy of Randy Gegelman

Minneapolis (05-June-2012) - Faegre Baker Daniels LLP celebrates the life and legacy of our friend and colleague, Randy L. Gegelman, who passed away on June 1, 2012, at age 51.

Gegelman will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues at Faegre Baker Daniels. He joined the Minneapolis office of Faegre & Benson LLP as an associate in the benefits group in 1991 and became a partner in 1996. Gegelman served as practice area leader of the benefits and executive compensation practice at Faegre & Benson from 2007–11. In 2012, when Faegre & Benson merged with Baker & Daniels LLP to create Faegre Baker Daniels, Gegelman was appointed group leader for the new firm's benefits and executive compensation group.

Gegelman was an outstanding lawyer who contributed significantly to the success of the benefits and executive compensation practice and the firm as a whole. He focused his practice on assisting employers with qualified and non-qualified plans of deferred compensation, stock-based compensation, and executive contracts and compensation. He was also a valuable resource and mentor to the firm's lawyers and staff.

Colleagues and clients remember Gegelman for his sharp mind, quick wit, sense of humor, and passion for work and life. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding motorcycles and family movie nights and was devoted to his wife and three daughters, who survive him.

Gegelman graduated from Washington University School of Law in 1987, where he was named to the Order of the Coif and was an editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly. He received his bachelor's degree in 1983 from North Dakota State University.

The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1400 S. Robert Rd., West St. Paul, Minn. Visitation hours will be at Augustana Lutheran Church from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, and 3-4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.
