Maid Brigade Book Drive Collects 8,268 Books Nationwide

Nearly 30 Maid Brigade Franchises Participate to Benefit 36 Local Organizations

June 06, 2012 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - Celebrating the love of reading and boosting awareness for the fundamental cause of children’s literacy, Maid Brigade green cleaning franchises across the United States collected 8,268 books in the second annual Maid Brigade Spring Book Drive.

Nearly 30 Maid Brigade franchisees and their customers participated in the book drive to benefit 36 local nonprofits in need. Franchisees selected the deserving recipients in their communities, many of which were chosen with input from the maids themselves. Monetary contributions were also collected by Maid Brigade and donated to Reading is Fundamental, the nation’s largest children’s literacy non-profit. The Maid Brigade Annual Book Drive began in 2011 to recognize the National Education Association’s Read Across America day. With roughly equal participation among franchises, this year’s drive surpassed the total amount of books collected in 2011 by more than 2,560 books. “Franchisees attribute the dramatic increase in books collected to the continued generosity of their customers as well as the high level of support provided by the Maid Brigade Marketing department for this turnkey program,” said Cathy Hay, VP – Franchise Recruitment for Maid Brigade. “The Maid Brigade book drive is a great example of the unique, civic-minded character of our brand and of our franchisees.
