Taft Welcomes Veteran Public Law Partner, Adam C. Miller, to its Team

June 06, 2012 // Franchising.com // COLUMBUS, OHIO - Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP is pleased to announce that seasoned attorney, educator and Army veteran, Adam C. Miller, has joined the firm’s Columbus office as a partner in the Public Law and Education Litigation practice groups. Miller previously was a partner with Benesch.

Miller focuses his practice on representing public governmental entities, including local, city and exempted village school districts, single and multi-county educational service centers, joint vocational school districts and statewide educational associations.

Taft Columbus partner-in-charge, Charles R. “Rocky” Saxbe, stated that he is “pleased that Adam selected Taft as the next step in his impressive career. He brings a unique understanding of educational operations to all levels of his public law practice, given his earlier career as an educator. We look forward to the unique experience and contributions he brings to Taft.”

Miller expressed that he is “delighted to join Taft. I look forward to contributing to the ongoing development of the Taft organization and its Columbus office, and to future collaboration with Taft attorneys to meet the needs of my clients.”

In addition to managing a growing legal career over the last 18 years, Miller is a former public school teacher, head coach, superintendent of schools, and current school board member. He assists school district leaders in a host of legal matters ranging from state funding to medical and prescription drug insurance contracts to employee discipline and termination. He is particularly versed in the legal aspects of charter and alternate schools and their impact on traditional public school district operations.

Miller contributes his considerable talents to many organizations. He Chairs the Ohio State Bar Association Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee and presently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (select) in the Army Reserve. Miller is a U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps Officer (JAG) and served with the 10th Mountain Division during his deployment to Afghanistan in 2004.

Miller received his J.D. from Capital University School of Law in 1994; an Ohio Teaching Certificate from Otterbein College in 1989; attended U.S. Army Command & General Staff College in 2004; and received his B.A. from The Ohio State University in 1988.
