Philadelphia Eagles Player LeSean McCoy to Headline Charity Golf Tournament Aiming to Raise $100,000

LANCASTER, Pa. (June 5, 2012) – Since the founding of Auntie Anne’s annual golf tournament in 1995, more than $1 million has been raised to aid the community with funds benefitting organizations such as Children’s Miracle Network, Hospice of Lancaster County, Bridge of Hope, Clare House, and Christ’s Home for Children. This year, Auntie Anne’s C.A.R.E.S. Committee hopes to exceed any previous single-year fundraising effort by raising $100,000 from the tournament.

The 17th Annual Auntie Anne’s C.A.R.E.S. Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, July 20, at Conestoga Country Club, Crossgates Golf Club, and Meadia Heights Golf Club. In the past, the tournament has been hosted at the Hershey Country Club and Hershey Links in Hershey, Pa. The decision to host the golf tournament at three locations in Lancaster this year was made due to the volume of participants expected, more than 300 golfers.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Auntie Anne’s national charitable partner, as well as two Lancaster-based nonprofits, Power Packs Project and Conestoga Valley Christian Community Services.

The tournament is receiving some big name backing from Philadelphia Eagles’ running back LeSean McCoy, who will make a celebrity appearance at Auntie Anne’s golf tournament. McCoy is originally from Harrisburg, Pa., and is passionate about giving back to his community. He will serve lemonade at an on-site stand to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, as well as participate in 9 holes of golf and attend the after-golf luncheon provided for all participants.
