LANSING, Mich., June 18, 2012 // PRNewswire // -- Just as TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® opened its 224th franchise with the help of new franchisee and United States Air Force veteran Terry Bruns, the Company is also looking to add more veteran employees ahead of the busy summer moving season. To advance the effort, the Company will participate in The National Veterans Small Business Conference at Detroit's Cobo Center June 26-28. The national conference is expected to attract thousands of veterans, business owners and federal employees.
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® hopes to identify prospective employees among the veterans in attendance, as well as those vets across the nation actively working with The United States Department of Veteran Affairs to find work.
The nation's largest franchised moving company has a number of positions to fill, including managers, customer service representatives, administrative staff and movers. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® currently has a number of U.S. military veterans and active ROTC personnel working within its system spanning 34 states, and nearly 10 percent of its current franchise operators are veterans. Drew Bullard, director of operations at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in Pittsburgh, will be speaking on a panel titled "Veterans Opportunities in Franchising" on June 26 at 3 p.m. at Detroit's Cobo Center.
"Our franchisees and employees with military backgrounds tend to thrive in our system," said TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®President/CEO Brig Sorber. "Our model of business requires a level of commitment to our customers that our veterans understand, having come from the highest service commitment a person can provide. We also have a flexible work environment that often allows active military personnel the opportunity to build a career in parallel with their military education, so it's a mutually beneficial arrangement. We'd love to have more veterans join our team."
In conjunction with the conference in Detroit, Melanie Bergeron, former franchisee and current chair of the board at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, will host a special International Franchise Association's (IFA) event to encourage veteran participation in the IFA's VetFran program (www.VetFran.com). The event is June 28 at 3:45 p.m. at Detroit's Cobo Center.
VetFran provides veterans with pathways to owning their own franchise business in addition to connecting existing franchisees with military veterans looking for work. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® currently offers a 10 percent discount on franchise fees to veterans interested in owning a franchise.
