June 24, 2012 Declared as "Mellow Mushroom Raleigh Day"

Mellow Raleigh to Host 10-Year Anniversary Parking Lot Party

Raleigh, North Carolina (PRWEB) June 20, 2012 - Mellow Mushroom Raleighhas announced that it will celebrate its 10-year anniversary with a parking lot party on Sunday, June 24, 2012. The day has been declared by Mayor McFarlane as “Mellow Mushroom Raleigh Day” to commemorate the store’s business and philanthropic contributions to the community. The owners are throwing the party as a tribute to the community for a decade of support.

“Mellow Mushroom’s comfort food and eclectic brand have helped us remain successful throughout a decade of economic challenges,” said Mellow Mushroom Raleigh President, Casey Fox. “But we wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for this community which has been welcoming us to the neighborhood since we opened.”

Mellow Mushroom Raleigh has become a cornerstone of Glenwood South by immersing itself in Raleigh’s culture and community. In the spring, summer and fall months, the days are few when Mellow Raleigh's patio isn’t packed with community members meeting for business and/or pleasure. Reid Fogleman, customer for 10 years, has taken loyalty to the next level.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Mellow Mushroom Raleigh since day one and still hang out there regularly,” said Fogleman, principle of Capital Food Group. “In fact, my love for the store and the brand it represents inspired me to open two franchises (Fayetteville and Greenville, N.C.) out of a planned five.”

While the Peace Street location remains the Triangle's flagship store, Triangle Mellow owners Casey Fox, Kent Hodges and Karen Halsey have grown the brand's footprint by opening stores in Durham, Wake Forest, and soon-to-be Chapel Hill.

“The Raleigh Mellow Mushroom has consistently been one of our most popular locations since opening ten years ago,” said Banks Weinstein, original founder of Mellow Mushroom/Home-Grown Industries of Georgia, Inc. “Owners Casey, Kent and Karen have been a great addition to the family. We’re proud to have them as part of the Mellow collection and honored to be celebrating this milestone with them.”

The party will feature both restaurant and parking lot highlights. In the parking lot, specials will include free pizza slices, $1 SweetWaters and $3 margaritas from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Inside and on the patio, all-day specials will include $3 drafts and $5 margaritas. In addition, live music from Old Habits, contests, games, and giveaways will span the parking lot. Mellow Raleigh will also unveil recent renovations including a new bar, tables, floors and additional seating. The “Bake Bus,” corporate’s travelling pizza kitchen, will make an appearance at the party along with mascot Mel. Planet Smoothie and Sauza Tequila join SweetWater as party sponsors.

Mellow Mushroom will also use the anniversary celebration to give back to an important cause by matching up to $1,000 of funds raised that day to donate to Upper Neuse Riverkeeper® Foundation’s “Save the Neuse Campaign,” sponsored by Mellow vendor, SweetWater Brewing Company.
