Deborah Coldwell of Haynes and Boone Nominated as Chair of ABA’s Forum on Franchising

June 21, 2012 // Franchising.com // DALLAS – Deborah Coldwell, a partner in the Business Litigation Section and the Franchise and Distribution Practice Group at Haynes and Boone, LLP, has been nominated as the next chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Franchising.

"Deb has worked hard in her area of expertise to get to this position,” said David Harper, co-leader of Haynes and Boone’s Business Litigation Section. “She is a strong trial lawyer and an excellent leader and mentor. We have no doubt that she will be an asset to the Forum as their chair.”

Nationally-ranked by Chambers USA in the franchise law category, Coldwell has more than 20 years of experience as a business litigator focusing on franchise, distribution and contract disputes. In the recent Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2012, editors noted her as an "outstanding trial lawyer."

Currently, Coldwell is an active member on the Forum’s Governing Committee and is the Publication Officer, overseeing the preparation, production, and publication of all handbooks, manuals, desk books and monographs for the Forum. She is also a featured author in the first edition of the American Bar Association’s Franchise Litigation Handbook.

Forum members will vote on committee nominations during the Forum’s annual business meeting, Oct. 5 in Los Angeles. The Forum chair is elected for a two-year term that will begin in August 2013. Once elected, Coldwell will become the 16th chair (and only the third female chair) of the Forum in its 36 year history.
