ERA Real Estate Celebrates USA's Summer Games Hopefuls

Company Names Medal-Worthy Markets

PARSIPPANY, NJ--(Marketwire - Jul 9, 2012) - With the London Games top of mind, ERA Real Estate has explored the hometowns of notable U.S. athletic contenders. Join ERA Real Estate in paying homage to some of the world's best athletes with a look at the company's "dream team" markets.

For Those Who Like to Rally

Two-time gold medalist and volleyball household name Misty May-Treanor was born in Los Angeles, Calif. and grew up playing beach volleyball at the Santa Monica Pier with her parents -- both athletic greats. With endless beaches, sunshine and numerous LA-area sports stars to practice with or gain inspiration from, Los Angeles is indeed a great place for any health or sports enthusiast.

"No matter what your choice of sport may be, Los Angeles is spiked with athletic and fitness fun," said broker associate Sin-Yi Chao Lambertson of ERA Yes! Real Estate. "Most people consider California to be a pricey market and in some cases that is true. However, in Los Angeles there are a variety of property-buying options and single-family homes currently sell at an average price of $482,226 -- more reasonable than most homebuyers would think."

A Gymnast's Un-paralleled Cross-Training Terrain

Colorado Springs, Colo., home to Olympic gymnast John Orozco -- a 2012 Summer Games high bar and parallel bars hopeful -- is well known for North America's most visited mountain, Pike's Peak.

Located at the front range of the Rocky Mountains, the peak features several visitors' stops where athletes can re-fuel, and sky-high views where gymnasts such as Orozco can get used to height. The peak is reachable by car or the mountain's cog railway -- a gateway to great hiking and running trails including one of the most popular trails, Barr Trail, where locals and visitors walk, hike, bike and run.

"Colorado Springs offers a variety of terrains for athletes of any sport looking to cross-train," said broker Bill Hurt of ERA Shields Real Estate. "The current average sale price is an affordable $208,481 making our town an even better place to live if you're looking for fitness -- physical or financial -- and a better quality of life."

A Runners' Outdoor Training Delight

In 2010, Games veteran and 2012 contender Shalane Flanagan won notoriety when she took second place in the New York City Marathon. Flanagan originates from Boulder, Colo. at the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills -- a trail runners' delight. Though Flanagan excels at track and field, trail running is a popular cross-training practice and Boulder's scenery makes challenging terrain a bit easier to endure.

"Boulder has a laid-back feel to it," said broker James Plaster of ERA Tradewind Real Estate, LLC. "Top rankings in wellness and quality of life reflect a healthy and peaceful lifestyle, perfect for athletes and especially runners. The average single-family home sale price in Boulder is $698,305; however there are also great deals to be had there. For example, based on some of ERA's current listings, you could score a winning home in this picturesque town at around $249,000."

1976 decathlon gold-medalist, actor and reality TV star Bruce Jenner hails from Tarrytown, N.Y., a quaint village in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County. Charmed by a small town feel and premier antique shopping, the scenic area is in close proximity to Washington Irving's muse -- Sleepy Hollow.

"Flat terrain, views of the Hudson River, and the gradual incline of the Tappan Zee Bridge offer a variety of training options for runners and aspiring track athletes," said principal broker Louis Budetti Jr. of ERA Insite Realty Services. "On average, single-family homes are selling at $524,526. It's definitely a town to consider if scenery, great school systems and easy access to New York City appeal to you."

The Martial Arts and Boxing Enthusiast's Perfect Match

Sugar Land, Texas, lifetime home to three-time Taekwondo medalist and 2012 team member Steven Lopez, is an affluent and quickly-growing town outside of Houston with a strong local economy for job-seekers. The award-winning town has held the "Fittest City in Texas" title since 2007 and in 2006, Money magazine ranked it third on its "100 U.S. Best Cities to Live" list. Perhaps that is why this legend and contender still calls it home.

"Sugar Land has a strong health and athletics connection with local sports being extremely popular, posing a good opportunity for kids and aspiring athletes," said broker Joseph Benes of ERA Benes Realty. "Although considered a wealthy area, home prices are quite reasonable for such a pleasant place to live. The current average sale price ranges from $212,511 to $277,163. And who knows, you may bump into our hometown hero. We're rooting for him wholeheartedly!"

No matter what market you choose, ERA has its own dream team of ERA Brokers and Agents, ready to make your home goals a reality.
