Chevys Fresh Mex Hosts National Tequila Day Fiesta and Specials

National Restaurant Chain Celebrates Summer with Watermelon Margaritas and Flaming Tequila Chicken

July 11, 2012 // Franchising.com // Union City, Calif. - Chevys Fresh Mex, a national border cantina-style Mexican restaurant chain, will host a National Tequila Day Fiesta starting July 20 with special menu and drink offers leading up to National Tequila Day on July 24.

This month Chevys is kicking off the celebration on July 20 by inviting guests to sample fresh, seasonal tequila-themed menu items paired with free-flowing margaritas, America’s most popular cocktail. Chef Carlos’ Flaming Tequila Chicken Fajitas, which is served tableside and set ablaze, may be paired with premium 1800 Watermelon Margarita for $17.99. On July 24, the national restaurant chain honors National Tequila Day by offering guests’ favorite tequila drink specials including:

  • 1800 Margarita (House or Fresh Fruit) for $5
  • Cazadores Blanco, Herradura Silver, El Jimador Reposado shots for $6
  • Paloma or Red Paloma, or any flavor Tequini for $7

Chevys will also bring back the popular $5 Watermelon Margarita, the latest libation in the Fresh Fruit Margaritas of Month series, as the “fresh” border cantina chain celebrates its monthly Cinco party on July 5. In honor of National Watermelon Month, the chain launches its special 1800 premium Watermelon Margarita and the Hangar One Watermelon Martini, and refreshing drinks which will be available through the end of summer.

“As North America's first native-born distilled spirit, tequila is an internationally beloved pairing with border cantina-style cuisine,” said Ralph Ortiz, margarita mix master of Chevys Fresh Mex. “Our fresh new tequila-themed flavors are designed to help guests celebrate National Tequila Day right with a wide range of exciting libations.”

“Every day is a good day to drink tequila, but we’re kicking the celebration up a notch in honor of National Tequila Day by infusing it in our food and fiestas across the country,” added Brian Wright, president of Chevys Fresh Mex. “In our business, National Tequila Day is to the cantinas as St. Patrick’s Day is to the pubs.”

To help guests get in the Chevys’ State of Mind, where the grill is hot and margaritas are free-flowing, the culinary team rolled out its new seasonal menu items on July 2. Fresh, summer-inspired flavors include Habanero Grilled Steak Tacos, mesquite-grilled Carne Asada and Shrimp Skewers and citrus-infused Ceviche Mixto.

During the summer promotion, Chevys will also give away a Magicater real Mesquite Grill and 100 pounds of mesquite brick, with a retail value of approximately $1,000, during its Grillin’ and Chillin’ Sweepstakes. Guests may enter to win through the Facebook page or in participating store locations through July 31.
