Fresh Coat Painters Owner Gives Back for Charity's Great Home Giveaway

Michael Solberg, owner of Fresh Coat Painters of Belvidere, once again is providing painting services for the Great Home Giveaway to benefit The Arc of Winnebego, Boone and Ogle Counties.

Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) July 23, 2012 - Growing up in Illinois, Fresh Coat Painters owner Michael Solberg had a friend with a family member who made a lasting impression on him. His friend’s brother was developmentally disabled, and Michael never forgot the boy with the big smile.

Michael said it seemed natural that years later he became involved with The Arc of Winnebago, Boone and Ogle Counties. The Arc is a non-profit organization that serves more than 200 adults and children who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families through a wide variety of programs, services and activities.

The Arc celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and continues its biggest fund-raising event, the annual Great Home Giveaway, which awards one lucky winner a brand new home or $100,000 cash.

“The Arc helps families in so many ways, from schooling to finding jobs for adults,” Michael said. “They do everything they can to help the developmentally disabled become productive members of society.”

Michael’s Fresh Coat Painters in Belvidere, Ill. has established itself as a leader in the painting industry, offering quality craftsmanship and reliable service. The company painted the house that belonged to The Arc’s marketing director, and she was so satisfied with the job that she immediately contacted Michael.

“She was so impressed with the care we took with her painting job that she asked if I wanted to get involved with The Arc,” he said.

“Michael is just one example of our franchise owners who truly take pride in their work and sincerely want their clients to be happy,” said Fresh Coat President Bernard Brozek. “They know superior workmanship speaks for itself, and the word gets around when painting is done right.”

Soon after finishing the marketing director’s house, Michael saw his former friend with his disabled brother at a local store. He said he was amazed that after so many years his friend’s brother still remembered him, knew where he lived and talked about the times they spent together as children.

“This young man is a great individual,” Michael said. “We had been searching for a local charity that could use our help and were genuinely impressed with The Arc. Every penny they raise goes to help people who need it most. It was a good fit for us, and it gives us a chance to highlight our talent. We really enjoy doing this.”

Fresh Coat Painters and Sherwin Williams have partnered for The Great Home Giveaway with Fresh Coat donating brushes, rollers and supplies, and Sherwin Williams donating the paint. The house to be awarded will be open for viewing by the public beginning Aug. 4. The grand prize drawing will be televised during the 6 p.m. news broadcast on WTVO, Channel 17, on Thursday, Nov. 15.
