CLEARWATER, Fla., July 19, 2012 // PRNewswire // -- After 14 years in business, PODS® moving and storage celebrated its two millionth container delivery in June by providing one year of free storage and a free move to the recipient who resided in Valrico, Fla. As part of their continued celebration, PODS launched a $10,000 Home Renovation sweepstakes on Monday to celebrate this important milestone in the history of the company and the industry.
In 1998, PODS revolutionized the landscape of the moving and storage industry with its signature white portable PODScontainers, which changed the way people would move and store forever.
"The PODS solution provided a new, more convenient and flexible way to move and store," said George Spowart, chief marketing officer of PODS. "Residential and commercial customers no longer were at the mercy of daily truck rental fees or multiple handlings of possessions by full-service movers. This new way of moving and storing revolutionized an industry."
Bob Hughes, a full service moving agency owner, was one of America's early PODS franchise owner's and saw how PODS could revolutionize the industry.
"I have been in the full service moving business for over 35 years and saw my first PODS® container in 2003. I instantly knew two things: it would revolutionize the moving and storage business and that I had to be involved," Hughes said.
The $10,000 sweepstakes ends on Oct. 15, 2012. For more information, visit Facebook.com/PODS.
Founded in 1998, PODS currently provides moving and storage services to a population of more than 250 million consumers and businesses, in 48 U.S. states, Canada, Australia and the UK, through its company-owned and independent franchise network. To date, the PODS network has completed more than 380,000 long-distance relocations, exceeded 2.0 million deliveries and has over 144,000 PODS® containers in service.
PODS® secure containers are constructed of a steel frame and are available in three sizes: approximately 7-by-7-by-8 feet, 12-by-8-by-8 feet and 16-by-8-by-8 feet. The 12-foot and 16-foot containers have been tested to withstand winds of more than 110-mph when partially loaded. Newer PODS® containers have the same steel frame construction but are completely recyclable panels made of steel skins and a high-density polyethylene core.
