July 25, 2012 // Franchising.com // David Robert Young, 45, of Elkhorn, Wis., died on Sunday, July 15, 2012 as the result of a tragic accident in Whitewater, Wis.

Dave was a sleep products industry expert, starting his career in the industry in 1985 as the general manager of a Verlo Mattress Factory Stores franchise. He always maintained that most of his experience came from running his own companies. As an entrepreneur from the age of 21, Dave has owned and operated more than a dozen companies, from coffee shops and medical pillow manufacturing, to real estate and retail. Some of those businesses and titles include: CEO / co-founder, VyMaC Corporation, managing member of both VyMaC Ventures, LLC and VyMaC Properties, LLP, president of Ostermoor & Company, Inc., and previously, president of the Verlo Mattress Factory Stores, LLC. Dave was also a member of the International Sleep Products Association, as well as the Better Sleep Council.

Dave was a talented leader with a gift for pushing people out of their comfort-zones in an effort to create excellence. There are many top-level management professionals in a variety of industries that got their start under his tutelage.

Dave was a very loving and devoted husband, father, brother and son. He enjoyed traveling and boating with his family. He believed his kids were more than slightly exceptional, boasting that they could “hang” with anyone and handle any situation with better sense and grace than most adults. He leaves his wife of 21 years, Renee, his three children, Cord, Chase, and Chloe, all of Elkhorn, his father David (Lannie) Young of Johnsburg, Ill., and his brother James (Becky) Young of Oswego, Ill. James is president of Spring-Green Lawn Care. Dave is further survived by nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Mary Lou.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be given to an educational fund that has been established for his children at Peoples Bank c/o The Young Children Memorial Fund, 837 North Wisconsin Street, Elkhorn, WI 53121.
