Wyndham Expands in Latin America with Panama Resort at Playa Blanca

July 26, 2012 // Franchising.com // PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest hotel company with over 7,170 hotels and part of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation (NYSE: WYN), today announced the expansion of its upscale Wyndham® Hotels and Resorts brand in Panama with the addition of the Wyndham Grand Playa Blanca, a 220-room all-inclusive resort located on the Pacific coast in Panama’s Coclé Province.

The beachfront property, owned by Casa de Campo Farallon, S.A., and operated by RG Hotels, becomes the third hotel in Panama to fly the Wyndham® flag, joining sister properties Veneto – A Wyndham Grand Hotel and Wyndham Garden Panama City, both located in Panama City.

The resort opening strengthens Wyndham Hotel Group’s presence in Latin America, which currently consists of over 90 properties and more than 10,000 rooms in 13 countries throughout the region under the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Ramada®, Days Inn®, Howard Johnson®, Wingate by Wyndham®, Microtel Inn & Suites® by Wyndham and TRYP by Wyndham™ brands.

Located on a private stretch of beach, Wyndham Grand Playa Blanca is 90 minutes west of Panama City and 80 miles from Tocumen International Airport. The resort’s all-inclusive plan provides guests with unlimited meals, snacks and beverages, as well as non-motorized sports, entertainment and recreational activities, included in room rates.

Contemporary guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows revealing ocean or garden views, complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access, 32-inch LCD flat screen televisions, in-room refrigerators and laptop-sized safes. Spacious suites offer kitchenettes, sleeper sofas and balconies.

Guests can relax in private cabanas by one of the resort’s three pools, one of which is designated especially for children. Additional resort amenities include a 24-hour fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, concierge services, gift shop and a variety of recreational activities, such as kayaking, snorkeling and beach volleyball. Families with small children can take advantage of the on-site arcade and activity center, which offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities daily.

Five restaurants and bars offer a variety of all-inclusive dining experiences, ranging from expansive breakfast buffets and al fresco dining to grab-and-go snacks and upscale a la carte restaurants showcasing Panamanian, Mediterranean and Asian cuisines.

Wyndham Grand Playa Blanca serves as an ideal location for a tropical business meeting or social event with over 7,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space accommodating up to 600 guests. Event services include on-site meetings professionals, catering services and audio visual equipment.

Upon opening, the hotel will be available on www.wyndham.com as well as GrupoWyndham.com, which currently offers consumers information and reservations in Spanish for select Wyndham Hotel Group properties across Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama.
