Milwaukee, WI – July 19, 2012 - Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of Southeast Wisconsin has announced its annual community service initiative with a local project and the donation of time, labor and materials during the company’s annual Restoring America program. The work will begin at 1155 Algoma Blvd. in Oshkosh on Thursday, July 26 at 8 am until 1 pm with the renovations to a home owned by an individual with blood cancer. The project will include Paul Davis staff and subcontractors, who will donate their time and expertise as volunteer workers. However, the project still requires the donation of a stainless steel dishwasher and a microwave.
This year’s Restoring America recipient, Dennis Tondryk, is a cancer survivor who spends much of his time and energy helping the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Tondryk is a self proclaimed entrepreneur who once owned a successful construction company in the Chicago area before he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The subsequent battle for his life drained many family resources including his savings for retirement. Tondryk, his wife Jeanne, and her 90-something mother, who is in their care, live in a 140 year old house in Oshkosh.
Additionally, the Tondryk’s kitchen stove has not operated for a long time which forces the family to prepare many of their meals outside on the grill. “Dennis Tondryk has a passion for cooking that is halted by the current 1960’s era kitchen that is in disrepair,” said Allan Degner, Paul Davis’ Director of Marketing. “The home is in urgent need of a fully-functioning kitchen and other home improvements including demolition work, wallpaper removal, and the procurement and installation of new cabinets, countertops, plumbing supplies and fixtures, appliances, flooring, and much more,” he said. “This will transform the kitchen into an updated and well-designed space with appeal.”
The scope of the project also includes areas of the home into the living room where water damaged floors and dated walls will receive improvements. Paul Davis will work with the local office of College Pro Painters to transform the exterior of the home with new paint. “The scope of our Restoring America initiative would not be possible without the generous support of various subcontracts donating both materials and time,” said Degner.
Paul Davis project manager Travis Dudovick will oversee the project along with leading Fox Valley subcontractors including T&J Plumbing, Wrights Electric, Christensen Heating & Air Conditioning, Prosource, The Home Depot, and many more generous contributors.
“We will provide a comfortable and safe home for the Tondryks. They are deserving recipients of the company’s ‘Restoring America’ project this year,” said Meg Boyle, Paul Davis’ Vice President and CFO. “Paul Davis is continuing its long history of helping neighbors in need with home repairs,” she said. “The commitment of labor and materials from our valued vendors and trades people is truly appreciated.”
