Paul Davis to Host the First Annual Hot August Fire Station Ride on August 25

Charleston, SC – July 17, 2012 - Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling of Greater Charleston has announced its first annual Hot August Fire Station Ride on Saturday, August 25 to benefit the Carolina Children’s Charity. The 56 mile motorcycle ride will start at Harley Davidson, 4707 Dorchester Road in Charleston with a tour of the Lowcountry while visiting several fire stations and culminating at North Charleston and American LaFrance Fire Museum at 4975 Centre Point Drive in North Charleston.

Pre-registration is encouraged online by visiting the website at www.pdcharleston.com. Event day registration will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. with the ride starting at 11 a.m. Entry fees are tax deductible and costs are $20 per bike/rider and $10 for a passenger. The cost of the ride does not include entry to the museum which is $6.00 for adults; free for children 12 and under with an adult admission.

Ride participants will receive t-shirts, arm bands, Bar-B-Q and entertainment including music, door prizes and a jump castle shaped like a fire truck. Non-riders may attend the after party from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. where tickets may be purchased for food, raffle tickets, and the jump castle. Sponsors of the event include Harley Davidson and Southern Kitchen Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q.

“We are pleased to hold an event that welcomes all motorcycle riders, but particularly participation by local firefighters, their families and friends for a fun day at the fire museum and educational center. The facility is a perfect place to end our ride with a glimpse into the life of a firefighter and the changes and advancements that have occurred in fire fighting throughout time,” said Larry Rice, Paul Davis office owner. “The museum is filled with one of a kind fire vehicles and antique fire equipment, which date back to the mid 1700's. Kids of all ages will love the interactive displays and hands on equipment,” he said.

“Most importantly, we are donating 100 percent of the event proceeds to one of the Lowcountry firefighter’s charity of choice, Carolina Children’s Charity.”

Founded in 1987, Carolina Children's Charity is a community organization created by local volunteers to meet the needs of children under the age of 18 in the Lowcountry with birth defects and childhood diseases such as asthma to cerebral palsy, from juvenile diabetes to cancer, among others. The non-profit has no state or national affiliation and receives no government grants or reimbursement for services. The Charity relies solely on donations from the community and has provided assistance to thousands of children with services totaling more than $2.42 million.
