Wiggin and Dana Lawyer Receives Spirit of Volunteerism Award

July 30, 2012 // Franchising.com // New Haven – Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that Natalie Shonka was presented with the Spirit of Volunteerism Award at the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen's (DESK) 17th Annual Soup Night.

The Spirit of Volunteerism Award recognizes businesses, individuals, and/or groups who model effective workplace volunteer initiatives linked to their business objectives through DESK volunteerism support.

Once a month, Natalie Shonka leads Wiggin and Dana lawyers and staff at DESK, helping to prepare and serve meals to the greater New Haven Community.

"I would like to thank all of the Wiggin and Dana volunteers," said Natalie. "They have each found room in their busy schedules to prioritize service to our community. Without them, there would be no award." Over a dozen Wiggin and Dana lawyers and staff have regularly volunteered at DESK over the past year.

Natalie is an associate in the firm's Litigation Department. Before joining Wiggin and Dana, she clerked for two years for United States District Court Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law where she was the Notes Development Editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law. Natalie graduated Phi Beta Kappa, with distinction, from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in English-American Studies.
