Freshii Inks 5-Unit Deal For NY and CT

Fresh, Healthy, Fast-Casual Freshii Makes Its Way To The Tri-State Area

August 08, 2012 // Franchising.com // Freshii, a fast casual health food concept offering fresh, delicious custom built meals, is experiencing rapid growth and has signed a number of recent multi-unit deals, both national and international. The most recent agreement with EJB Ventures LLC, a company owned by Jonathan Blob and his wife Erica, is a 5 unit deal for the areas of Westchester County, NY and Fairfield County, CT - each about 30-60 minutes from New York City.

Jessica Curtis of Cushman & Wakefield has been engaged as the franchisee’s exclusive broker for the expansion into the market, evaluating sites for the first location, with no areas specifically targeted at this time. The franchisee hopes to have the first store open, pending real estate selection, by late 2012.

Blob previously worked as a hedge fund portfolio manager in the consumer sector, where he specialized in restaurant investments. Blob says of his experience and background, “During my 10 years in the financial industry I have met with the management teams and analyzed the vast majority of publicly traded restaurant companies, as well as several private concepts. It has given me great insight into how the leading management teams run their businesses and interact with their consumers.”

Blob was attracted to Freshii as a concept because he believes that “healthy, wholesome and energizing food is an emerging trend in the U.S. and that fast casual sales will continue to outpace the restaurant industry, primarily full service dining. Additionally, there are a lack of healthy eating options in Westchester and Fairfield Counties, both of which are ideal markets for Freshii clientele.”

The NY/CT deal was signed through Freshii’s franchise development partner, Fransmart, the company responsible for the successful launch of franchise programs for Five Guys Burgers and Fries and zpizza.
