Turning Tragedy Into Healing

Pak Mail delivers one of their most precious packages.

Centennial, CO, August 25, 2012 - (PR.com) - Artist Samantha Bennett, herself a victim of sorts, wanted to help a Pak Mail employee whose daughter was murdered. So she did what she always does -- she painted a picture of the young girl for the family, to help ease their pain. The irony is that the painting had to get across the country to Colorado in time to be featured on a Television show about the tragedy. And the recipient was an employee of Pak Mail, a store that specializes in packing and shipping.

“We’ve shipped hundreds of paintings before, but never one that meant so much. And this was a challenge because the paint was still wet,” said store owner Nick Joseph. “Luckily we had shipped wet paintings before so we knew how to float the painting in the middle of the box.”

“It just had to get there. This was too important. I knew it didn’t have time to fully dry but luckily that’s what these guys do,” said Bennett.

The painting was of Kenia Monge, a girl tragically murdered in Colorado in early 2011. Kenia’s step-dad, Tony, an employee of Pak Mail, was telling Kenia’s story on the national TV show True Crimes that night.

The painting was delivered on time. And Tony was able to tell the story of his step-daughter in the hopes that it would help others to avoid similar tragedies.

After dealing with her own adversity, including the death of her young child, Samantha Bennett has made it her mission to paint portraits representing the stories and memories of someone who has passed away.

“These stories are an honor to create. My heart and soul go into each of these paintings and I am extremely grateful to have been trusted with these delicate portraits,” said Bennett.
