September 04, 2012 // Franchising.com // Franklin, TN - Tasti D-Lite, the great-tasting, lower-calorie frozen dessert chain with a fanatical following among health-conscious consumers as well as celebrities, will celebrate 25 years in September. A mayoral proclamation will recognize Friday, Sept. 7 as Tasti D-Lite Day in New York City. Tasti D-Lite will also offer a small cup or cone for 25 cents at all participating locations Sept. 7. Tasti D-Lite is adding a new flavor—birthday cake—from Sept. 3 through the end of the month.
“Tasti D-Lite has come so far in the last 25 years and a lot has changed, but our product has remained the same delicious, lower-calorie treat that our customers love,” said Donna Smith, vice president of marketing. “We want to give back to our loyal fans by serving a small cup or cone for 25 cents. We are also launching a contest to find the biggest Tasti D-Lite fan in honor of our anniversary.”
Fans can enter to be the “Biggest Tasti Fan” at www.biggesttastifan.com. Video submissions and written submission (250 words or less) will be accepted. The winner will receive hotel and airfare for two to his or her choice of one of Tasti D-Lite’s flagship cities: New York City, Miami Beach, Fla., or Nashville, Tenn.
Additionally on Sept. 7, Tasti D-Lite will release its first book called The Tasti D-Lite Way: Social Media Marketing Lessons for Building Loyalty and a Brand Customers Crave. The book is authored by CEO and Chairman Jim Amos and Vice President of Technology B.J. Emerson. It offers advice on social media marketing based on Tasti D-Lite’s experience; Tasti D-Lite has been at the forefront of using social media in the quick-serve restaurant industry.
Since its inception in 1987, Tasti D-Lite’s popularity has grown largely by word of mouth and has resulted in a huge base of raving fans who line up day and night to get their favorite guilt-free treat, available in more than 100 flavors. In 2008 the company launched its first franchise program.
