Planet Beach Franchise: International Spa Association Study Shows Signs of Thriving Industry

ISPA 2012 U.S. Spa Industry Study Shows an Increase in Revenue, Visits

NEW ORLEANS, LA - (Marketwire - Sep 17, 2012) - The spa industry is flourishing, recent studies show.  The International Spa Association recently released its 2012 U.S. Spa Industry Study, an annual evaluation of the industry. The report shows spa revenue and number of visits both rose in 2011.

Spa revenue grew from $12.8 billion in 2010 to $13.4 billion last year, a 4.5 percent increase. Visits rose by 4.1 percent, from 150 million to 156 million.

"The spa industry is growing at a healthy rate in revenues and visits," said ISPA President Lynne McNees. "Overall confidence remains high across the board as the spa industry is outpacing economic growth."

The study credited the increase to spas implementing new strategies to meet customer demand. Eighty-three percent of spas have made one or more changes to their business models, including new products and services, as Planet Beach did seven years ago.

Planet Beach's decision to convert to the automated Contempo Spa concept broadened its reach, extending to its customers automated massages, facials, hydration treatments and red light therapy.

The automated spa puts an innovative spin on the traditional day spa model by offering customers a low monthly membership fee for unlimited, fully automated, push-button spa and UV services.

Ted Unseth, who co-owns four Planet Beach locations in Texas, said Planet Beach has grown consistently since 2007 because of its expert staff and smart marketing strategies.

"There's no doubt Planet Beach will continue to grow," Unseth said. "We care about our clients, and we really place a high value on great customer care."
