For 2nd Straight Year, VooDoo Makes Top Food Franchises List

Influential Annual Report Gauges Franchisee Satisfaction; VooDoo Lone BBQ Franchise on List

NEW ORLEANS, LA - (Marketwire - Sep 21, 2012) - For the second straight year, VooDoo BBQ & Grill has made Franchise Business Review's list of the top food franchise brands.

FBR, a national market research firm that researches franchisee satisfaction, issued its Top 40 Food Franchises report in mid-September. The report is based on a survey of nearly 4,000 franchise owners representing 84 brands; because the survey is anonymous, the results are considered one of the best indicators of a franchise system's health.

VooDoo also made FBR's Top 30 Food Franchises list in 2011. The rapidly growing New Orleans-based franchise system has developed from a handful of restaurants in south Louisiana to a robust and growing network, having opened locations this year in South Carolina and Texas and preparing to open its first in Florida.

"Our inclusion in the Top 40 list is further validation of our franchise system, which is committed to maintaining excellent franchise owner relations even as it expands," said VooDoo BBQ CEO Tony Avila. "We work hard to communicate openly with our franchise owners and respond quickly to their concerns, and our presence on the FBR list reflects the efforts we've made."

The list identifies the restaurant franchises that rank highest in such key areas as financial opportunity, training and support, leadership, operations and core values. The report also compiles data on franchise owners' market areas, demographics, roles in the franchise community and other factors.

The report details the continuing growth trend of so-called "fast-casual" restaurants, which usually means meals made fresh at a counter, served quickly but with healthier options than fast food. VooDoo BBQ has concentrated on developing fast-casual locations with music and décor that reflect its New Orleans base.
"We want every trip to VooDoo," Avila said, "to be like a 45-minute New Orleans vacation."
