Bagger Dave’s Adds Three Michigan Locations

Local Burger Chain Expanding Quickly

October 02, 2012 // Franchising.com // Southfield, Mich. - Bagger Dave’s Legendary Burger Tavern, a unique, full-service, ultra-casual restaurant and bar, will celebrate the openings of three new restaurants in its home state of Michigan. Locations are slated to open at 13961 Hall Road in Shelby Township (Sept. 30), 6608 Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills (Oct. 14) and 3333 W. Shore Dr. in Holland (Oct. 28).

“Following the Shelby Township, Bloomfield Hills and Holland openings, we’ll have a total of 10 Bagger Dave’s restaurants operating in Michigan,” said Michael Ansley, president and CEO of Bagger Dave’s. “We’re proud that we’ve established such strong roots in our home state, and continue to work with more than 30 local suppliers to support our community. In less than five years, we’ve expanded quickly yet strategically and recently crossed state lines into Missouri through our growing franchise program.”

Since its founding in 2008, Bagger Dave’s has set up shop in Ann Arbor, Berkley, Brighton, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, Grandville and Novi. In Michigan alone, the company has created jobs for hundreds of individuals.

The first franchised location opened in June in Cape Girardeau, Mo., which was the first restaurant to open outside the state of Michigan. The franchise agreement includes a total of six locations set to open over the next five years in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. A total of up to 24 new locations—either corporately-owned or franchised—are expected to open over the next five years.

With restaurant industry sales expected to reach $632 billion this year, according to the National Restaurant Association’s 2012 forecast, and new competition popping up every day, Bagger Dave’s has identified a niche in the burger business with a modern interpretation of the old-fashioned neighborhood bar. The restaurants feature full table service and a bar and are inviting for adults and kids alike, with localized décor of the town’s historical past displayed throughout and even an electric train that runs above the dining room and bar areas.

Bagger Dave’s serves up fresh, never-frozen premium beef-blend burgers, all-natural ground turkey burgers and veggie black bean burgers, as well as a choice of more than 30 Meaningless Free Toppings®, which include six cheese choices, three types of buns, six house-made sauces and more.

Adding to the chain’s signature burgers, which include the Tuscan Turkey Burger™ (sliced mozzarella, tomato, onion and basil and balsamic vinaigrette) and the famed Train Wreck Burger™ (fresh-cut fries, fried egg, mild cheddar, sautéed onions and mushrooms and Bagger Dave’s Railhouse Burger Sauce™), Bagger Dave’s recently rolled out an updated menu that features innovative options such as the Kickin’ Cheddar Burger, the vegetarian Nacho Average Burger; and a spicy peanut butter burger aptly named PB&J(alapenos) Burger. Also, added to the menu’s Legendary Sauce offerings is a new Horseradish Ranch sauce.

Rounding out the menu, diners can also choose from fresh-cut potato French fries, Dave’s Sweet Potato Chips®, Amazingly Delicious Turkey Black Bean Chili® and Sloppy Dave’s BBQ®, as well as sandwiches, salads and hand-dipped milkshakes.
