October 08, 2012 // Franchising.com // InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has won the prestigious World Travel Award 2012 for Europe’s Leading Hotel Brand for the second year running at the World Travel Awards Europe Ceremony on 6 October 2012.
The award, which is voted for by the general public and travel professionals worldwide recognises InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to excellence. Other hotel brands in the category included Hilton Hotels, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, and W Hotels Worldwide.

The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry, and is described by the Wall Street Journal as “the Oscars of the Travel Industry”. The results are based on 167,000 travel agencies, industry professionals and the general public from more than 160 countries.
