Padric Kelly O'Brien Joins Taft

October 17, 2012 // Franchising.com // INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP is pleased to announce that Padric Kelly O’Brien has joined the firm as Senior Tax Counsel, resident in the firm’s Indianapolis office.

O’Brien has 30 years of experience representing private, exempt and public sector interests before U.S. and state tax administrators and courts in a broad range of income, transaction and excise tax issues. His experience spans numerous industries, from consumer business to tech and media to financial services. O’Brien is well-versed in training tax management teams in new or evolving U.S. federal tax situations and brings to our client base a good deal of experience in business transformations, i.e., merger and acquisition integration, carve-outs, stand-ups and IPOs, from representations of both U.S. and non-U.S. Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to joining Taft, O’Brien was based in Washington, D.C., as a national tax partner of a global accounting, tax and consulting firm practicing principally in merger and acquisition integration and carve-out design and implementation work, as well as tax risk management for tax and finance leads.

O’Brien received his LL.M. (Taxation) from New York University and his J.D. (with honors) from the Levin School of Law, University of Florida. His undergraduate degree is from the Fisher School of Accounting, University of Florida, where he was an honors graduate and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. Mr. O’Brien has an AV Peer-Review Rating (Preeminent) from Martindale-Hubbell and regularly publishes articles in national and regional tax-orientated periodicals such as Practising Law Institute and The Journal of Corporate Taxation.
