Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) Marches Toward Healthier Eating with Second UFood Grill Opening

BOSTON - (BUSINESS WIRE) - UFood Restaurant Group Inc. (OTC.BB: UFFC) proudly announced today that they have opened their second UFood Grill location at the Aberdeen Proving Ground military base in Maryland. UFood was awarded a contract by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) to build and operate three new UFood Grill units on the base in Aberdeen. “UFood Grill is going to be a great partner to the Exchange by providing both a healthier and more exciting food service on APG. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with UFood Grill in the future to enhance our commitment to service and value for the APG Community”, was stated by John Shiroky, Service Business Manager for AAFES.

Located in the Proving Ground’s #6010 building, this UFood Grill will serve hundreds of military personnel eager to try an array of fresh, healthier options including breakfast paninis, fire-grilled burgers, signature flatbread sandwiches, UBowls and specialty salads along with fat-free frozen yogurt and fresh-fruit & yogurt smoothies.

“We are very excited to finally open our second UFood Grill at Aberdeen Proving Ground. It’s a new, exciting chapter for us as we expand our presence in the military channel,” said Tom Mackey, UFood Senior Vice-President of Operations and point person for the development of UFood Grill in the military. “We’re confident the active, health-conscious men and women at Aberdeen will really appreciate our healthier, better-for-you menu.”

This year, the White House and Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs announced initiatives to provide healthier menus to 1,100 dining halls at military bases. The move adjusts the Pentagon’s nutritional standards for the first time in 20 years, bringing more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthier food choices to the American military.

UFood Grill currently operates restaurants in a number of trade channels including airports, hospitals, shopping centers and urban storefronts. The company’s airport locations are situated in Boston, Cleveland, Dallas and Salt Lake City. The place where “delicious meets nutritious”, UFood Grill offers consumers great tasting food that is lower in calories and fat and, wherever possible, serves food that is antibiotic, hormone and gluten-free as well as natural, grass- fed beef. UFood boasts a wide-ranging menu that includes lean burgers, sandwiches, rice bowls, salads, wraps, paninis, frozen yogurt and smoothies.
