Palo Alto Senior Care Company Supports the Alzheimer’s Association at Circle of Care Conference

Leaders in Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, Home Care Assistance Attended the 8th Annual Circle of Care Conference this Past Saturday

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) October 30, 2012 - Home Care Assistance, North America’s leading provider of in-home care for seniors, was proud to show their support for Alzheimer’s research by attending the Alzheimer’s Association Circle of Care Conference. The event took place on Saturday, October 27th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City; its purpose was to address the needs of families caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. It also served as an opportunity for professionals to share the latest innovations in treatment and prevention of the disease.

To show their support for Alzheimer’s and dementia research, Home Care Assistance sponsored the event and passed out educational material. “Home Care Assistance is always proud to support the Alzheimer’s Association and other organizations in line with our mission to change the way the world ages,” said Megan Heinen, Director of Marketing for Home Care Assistance. “Helping clients with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia is one of Home Care Assistance’s top priorities.”

This year’s conference featured a variety of speakers who lead breakout sessions on compassionate caregiving. Featured speakers included healthcare expert and author, Elaine Sanchez, RN and consultant, Joanne Rader and Gladstone Institute scientist, Yaisa Andrews-Zwilling. Major topics of focus were recent developments in Alzheimer’s research and positive caregiving. Yaisa Andrews-Zwilling spoke about her research on the only known genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease, Apolipoproten E4, as well as methods of Alzheimer’s prevention and risk reduction. Breakout sessions discussed more personal topics, such as what families and care providers can do to create more person-directed care, as well as how to ease caregiver’s stress with mindful-based dementia care. It was an information packed event that provided support and resources to those affected by Alzheimer’s or related dementia.

As a service to the community, Home Care Assistance hosts regular educational webinars on topics related to aging, wellness and quality of life. The last webinar in the company’s Healthy Longevity Series featured renowned dementia expert, Dr. Judith London. Home Care Assistance is also an AEDA champion and provides support and resources for families caring for those with dementia and other age-related ailments.
