Interim HealthCare Celebrates National Home Care and Hospice Month

Leading Healthcare Franchise Launches New 'Stories From Home' Videos

SUNRISE, Fla., Nov. 1, 2012 // PRNewswire // -- November is National Home Care and Hospice Month and Interim HealthCare, the nation's first and finest home healthcare franchise, marks the celebration by launching five inspirational real life stories about people who receive home care and hospice services through Interim HealthCare franchisees. The new "Stories From Home" online video series is available at www.interimhealthcare.com.

Interim HealthCare has been meeting home healthcare needs since 1966. Together with more than 40,000 healthcare workers, the company provides 50,000 people a year a continuum of care which includes hospice, palliative and senior care, physical, occupational and speech therapy, pediatric nursing, and a variety of other healthcare staffing services.

Due to changing technological advances, and an increase in the population's desire to age in place, more people now receive a wide range of health care services in their own homes. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects home healthcare employment to increase 4.5 percent annually through 2016, the highest rate of growth for any industry.

"At Interim HealthCare, we focus on the entire continuum of care and our 'Stories From Home' video series highlights just a few examples," said Interim HealthCare CEO and President Kathleen Gilmartin. "At any given moment, our care professionals are making home visits to help people recover from an illness or injury, cope with daily activities such as meal preparation or medication reminders, or provide end of life comfort and support."

Healthcare is personal to Gilmartin because, not only does she lead Interim HealthCare, but also she began her career as a nurse and spent nine years in acute care supervisory positions. She has a deep understanding of what is required to help individuals' lead safe, independent and enriched lives.

"November focuses on the important roles of both home care and hospice," said Gilmartin. "Unless we're personally faced with an unexpected medical diagnosis or situation, home health care or hospice is not thought about by most families or loved ones. November is a time to educate people about the important services we provide and publicly thank the thousands of employees whose dedication and commitment to helping others is a source of great pride."

Designed to inspire and uplift, the new "Stories From Home" videos detail how Ray, a 92-year-old WWII veteran, looks forward to Barbara's visits because she provides personal care and companionship to fill in the gaps of time at his retirement home. Harriet, a congestive heart failure patient, recovers at home after a heart valve replacement, and thanks to the combination of remote monitoring technology and extraordinary care from an Interim HealthCare team, who are quite literally her doctor's eyes and ears. Jenny is providing end of life hospice support for John, who has terminal cancer. John actually requested Jenny as his nurse because she had become family after she cared for his wife while she was in hospice care.

"Stories From Home" offer a few examples of outstanding non-medical and medical personal care, nursing and healthcare services provided each and every day from more than 300 independently owned Interim HealthCare franchises across the country.

Interim has over 45 years in the healthcare industry, and franchisees have an average tenure of 24 years. Franchise opportunities are available throughout the country.
