World’s Largest Coffee Franchise Launching in South Africa

November 01, 2012 // Franchising.com // Australian-born Cafe2U, the world’s largest mobile espresso coffee franchise has just signed a Master Franchise deal for South Africa. The discerning marketplace was earmarked as an ideal place to launch for the continuously expanding franchise business.

In news just in - and evidence of its rapid expansion - Cafe2U was this week awarded two bronze medals in the industry’s prominent Golden Bean Awards, further adding to the franchise’s business accolades and proof of its premium coffee. A very proud achievement for Cafe2U, the awards included bronze for categories Chain Store/Coffee Franchise (Espresso) and Milk Based (Latte).

The South African Master Franchise owner is Marco Da Silva, who with his cousin Dylan, launched renowned Mokador Coffee in Johannesburg in 2007. The coffee market in South Africa is developing more and more, and the team saw this as a great opportunity to introduce Cafe2U mobile franchises.

“We cannot wait to launch our first van into the market, and introduce South Africa to the amazing coffee in the most convenient way possible. The South African coffee scene is going through a mini revolution,” said Da Silva.

Mr Da Silva added that the South African market differs from the Australian and New Zealand marketplace, being that while the coffee culture is quickly developing, it remains about 10 years behind. The demand for quality coffee is growing rapidly and they feel this is the perfect time tointroduce the mobile franchises.

“Many of the businesses in South Africa are in business parks meaning employees need to drive to get to their local café. The Cafe2U offer of amazing coffee and café style bites served at your business address, is a concept we believe the consumers will be very excited about.”

With a population of just over 50 million, Cafe2U Managing Director Derek Black believes this is a rare opportunity for Cafe2U to be part of the evolving demand for quality espresso coffee in South Africa.

“Cafe2U is already the largest mobile coffee franchise in the world, and this development in the South African market marks the beginning of a powerful new clientele and incredible growth opportunity,” said Mr Black.

South Africa will be the third international market that Cafe2U has added to its growing global stable in 2012. Earlier this year, Germany and New Zealand were successfully launched to join the existing markets, which include the UK and USA.
