Paul Davis National Deploys Crews to the East Coast for Structural Clean-Up and Drying after Superstorm Sandy

Company Begins Work in Hard Hit Rockaway Beach, NY

Milwaukee, Wis. – Nov. 6, 2012 - Paul Davis National, the large loss specialists and part of the Paul Davis network, has mobilized to the Northeast to provide much needed structural clean-up and drying services for residential and commercial properties in the wake of “Superstorm” Sandy. The company is already working on more than a dozen multifamily building complexes in Rockaway Beach, NY. Once local authorities began allowing recovery personnel to safely enter the neighborhood on Shorefront Parkway in Rockaway Beach on October 29, a large contingent of Paul Davis crew members started work in the area along with locally-hired tradesmen and other workers. The company is also moving equipment and personnel to other affected areas in New York and New Jersey as these areas are cleared for access.

According to Howland “Howdy” Russell, Paul Davis National’s spokesman, the company has responded to emergency calls from property managers in New York and New Jersey along with more than 50 local Paul Davis offices from across the country that are also working on emergency service jobs on the East Coast.

“We immediately started on the sizeable job of removing the debris, mud and sand in Rockaway Beach with manpower using shovels, vehicles and heavy equipment. We then expanded to support Paul Davis jobs in lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Naval Yard along with work in New Jersey,” said Russell. “In Rockaway, we’re hoping to get the work done this week, so residents can resume normal lives with electricity and water,” he said. Paul Davis crews are working 24/7 to finish the job this week while working with generators due to power outages and little or no water and sewerage services.

“It’s quite a challenge as the buildings are filled with sand, mud and debris. A key priority is to contain and control any microbial growth right away – ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the property owners and families,” he said.

Russell says documentation is an important product Paul Davis National delivers to property owners and insurance carriers to ensure efficient cost containment on catastrophic property damage restoration projects. The company’s primary objective is to operate all loss sites efficiently by establishing, in writing, its proposed tactics and techniques in advance of the work and throughout the process.

“We began emergency procedures immediately to stop the damage and stabilize the properties prior to implementing our proposed restoration and reconstruction plan. All parties are made aware of the proposed actions and pricing methodology upfront,” he said. “Establishing pre-approved billing rates allows all parties to make more effective and efficient decisions and to make sure the resources are in place to meet the demands of the situation.”

Paul Davis National plans to continue its large loss work in the northeast for the next several months. The Paul Davis organization also urges the general public to do what they can in supporting the American Red Cross, first responders and local food banks in helping those affected recover from this devastating storm.
