The World’s Greatest Toy Store™ Celebrates The Iconic Toys"R"Us Jingle Through Spontaneous Sing-alongs In-store

Special Social Media Campaign and a Black Friday Chorus from Coast-to-Coast

“From Bikes to Trains to Video Games,” the “TRU” News Team Inspires Kids and Kids-at-Heart to Embrace the Timeless Tune this Holiday Season

WAYNE, NJ – Toys"R"Us® today announced that according to “TRU” news anchors Shane Colton and Jenny Kim, it’s time to introduce the famous Toys"R"Us jingle to a whole new generation of kids. The iconic tune, which made its original debut in the 1980s, is best known for the catchy lyrics, “From bikes to trains to video games, it’s The Greatest Toy Store there is!” Now, nearly 30 years later, the company is celebrating this piece of brand nostalgia for a whole new generation of children who proudly consider themselves Toys"R"Us Kids, while allowing parents and grandparents to reminisce about their own childhood memories. To revive the spirit of the Toys"R"Us jingle as shoppers head into the holiday season, Toys"R"Us is leveraging its stores and social media channels to help kids and kids at heart embrace the memorable tune, which will have them saying “I don’t want to grow up, I’m a Toys"R"Us Kid!”

“At Toys"R"Us, we’re so proud of our brand heritage, and the holiday season is the perfect time to showcase a nostalgic centerpiece of the company’s history – the Toys "R"Us jingle – for today’s generation of Toys"R"Us kids, as well as those who remember it so fondly from their own childhood,” said Peter Reiner, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Toys"R"Us, U.S. “Through a multi-faceted campaign, our customers can celebrate this time-honored tune in all-new ways, as we leverage social media to encourage Facebook fans to record and share their version of the jingle and provide them the opportunity to join daily in-store sing-alongs.”

Social Media Campaign Encourages Fans to Record and Share their Own Jingle Video

To help engage kids across the country in the Toys"R"Us Jingle, Toys"R"Us has launched the Sing "R" Song Sweepstakes on its Facebook page, Facebook.com/Toysrus, where fans are encouraged to show that they are a true Toys"R"Us Kid. Interested participants can use the available application to record and upload a video of themselves singing the Toys"R"Us jingle to be entered to win the grand prize of a $2,500 Toys"R"Us shopping spree, now through December 13 at 11:59pm EST. Winners will be determined based on votes – so entrants should be sure to get their singing voices ready. The company has also implemented functionality for those entering the sweepstakes to share their video with friends so they can get in on the fun. Five additional first place winners will each be awarded one of the Fabulous 15 from the 2012 Toys"R"Us Holiday Hot Toy List, and every day of the sweepstakes, there will be a random drawing for the people who vote on their favorite videos for a $100 Toys"R"Us gift card. Additionally, all entrants will receive a $5 coupon code for the Toys"R"Us Movies, the company’s new digital entertainment store.

Toys"R"Us has also introduced a special video on its Facebook page, Facebook.com/Toysrus, featuring the “TRU” News Team, as the entire newsroom comes together to sing the Toys"R"Us jingle spontaneously. Those interested in viewing this fun video clip can also visit Toysrus.com/HolidayHub, where it will be featured throughout the holiday season, along with additional holiday information, hot toys and engaging video content.

Those interested in participating in the sing-a-long fun while on-the-go can text SONG2 to 78697 (RTOYS) to record their own version of the Toys"R"Us jingle and receive ongoing deals and alerts.

In-Store Sing-Alongs Engage a New Generation of Toys"R"Us Kids and Kids at Heart

At Toys"R"Us stores nationwide, every day this week at approximately 5pm, “TRU” News Team co-anchor, Shane Colton, will announce “breaking news” over the in-store radio, subsequently encouraging shoppers and store employees to take part in a daily sing-along of the Toys"R"Us jingle. For in-store customers who may not know all the words but are interested in joining in on the fun, lyric cards will be distributed so everyone can sing along.

Consumers in Line at Toys"R"Us Stores Nationwide on Thanksgiving Night Can Take Part in Coast-to-Coast Chorus

As shoppers look forward to the official kickoff of the holiday shopping season, with Toys"R"Us stores across the country opening at 8pm on Thanksgiving evening, the company has planned yet another way for families to wax nostalgic by singing the Toys"R"Us jingle. As they eagerly wait for the doors to open, customers who line up at Toys"R"Us stores on Thursday, November 22 to take advantage of the $12,000-plus potential savings available to them inside, will have the opportunity to join other shoppers from coast-to-coast in belting out the lyrics to the Toys"R"Us jingle.
