Ruby Tuesday Increases American Red Cross Donation to Support Sandy Relief Efforts

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - November 30, 2012 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Ruby Tuesday announces an additional $30,000 donation to the Red Cross for those impacted by Superstorm Sandy and the Nor’easter snowfall, bringing total donations to $80,000. An initial $50,000 donation was made on Nov. 9, from Ruby Tuesday employees. Today’s donation was made possible through the Ruby Tuesday Community Give Back program and generous guest donations collected throughout the past two weeks.

“Over the past two weeks, we have been overwhelmed by the response of our generous team members and guests who gave $80,000 to the Red Cross,” said Rob LeBoeuf, Ruby Tuesday Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer.

The initial $50,000 donation was made through Ruby Tuesday’s Ruby Relief Fund, an employee-sponsored fund that enables Ruby Tuesday team members to donate and provide financial assistance to others in times of natural or man-made disasters and crises.

During the past two weeks, Ruby Tuesday leveraged their Community Give Back Program to raise additional donations for the Red Cross. Ruby Tuesday restaurants raised $30,000 through two Give Back nights in the New Jersey, Delaware, and Long Island restaurants, and collected donations from guests in other restaurants throughout the United States.

“Hurricane Sandy’s winds, rains, and snow brought devastation and uncertainty to millions of people, and thanks to the support of donors such as Ruby Tuesday, the American Red Cross is providing relief immediately and staying to help as people begin to take steps to recovery,” said Neal Litvack, Chief Development Officer of the American Red Cross. “We’re grateful for Ruby Tuesday’s dedication to the Red Cross mission.”

About Ruby Tuesday Community Give Back Program

At Ruby Tuesday we have a history of corporate citizenship and take pride in the support of charitable organizations in the communities where we live and work. In order to give back to these organizations, we created the Ruby Tuesday Community Give Back Program to offer non-profits another way to raise money for their specific needs. The Ruby Tuesday Community Give Back Program (https://www.rubytuesdaygiveback.com/) offers a charitable donation to local organizations that host a dining event at any of our 700 plus locations. Our contribution is based on 20% of the net sales from guests that bring in a Give Back flyer for the organization’s specific event. Since the fundraising takes place at local Ruby Tuesday restaurants, the money that is raised will benefit the communities in which we live and work.

About the Ruby Relief Fund

We believe in giving back, and do so in a number of ways. We are very proud to support the Ruby Relief Fund where Team Members contribute out of concern and care for their co-workers. The Ruby Relief Fund is a 501 (c) (3) entity that provides support to our team in times of disaster. Established after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, this ongoing relief effort provides financial assistance to Ruby Tuesday employees in time of natural or man-made disasters and crises.
