NYLO Hotels Announces NYLO New York City

DALLAS, TEXAS (December 20, 2012) – NYLO Hotels LLC today announced plans to open its next hotel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. This project, slated to open in the third quarter of 2013, will be NYLO’s second conversion property and first franchised property.

NYLO New York City will be located at 77 th Street and Broadway in a beautiful early 1900’s building within walking distance of Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, Lincoln Center and Beacon Theatre. NYLO New York City will offer 298 refurbished

guestrooms, three destination restaurants and a signature NYLO lobby bar and gathering spot for visitors and locals. Original artwork will be displayed throughout the hotel. The artwork is being sourced via a contest that is open to all entrants through January 4; the rules and entry form are available on NYLO’s website.

“We have been waiting for the right opportunity to bring NYLO to New York City, and we are very excited about NYLO’s debut in the city of its conception,” said Michael Mueller, CEO, NYLO Hotels. “The Upper West Side is an ideal location for our unique, design-oriented lifestyle brand; it’s also an area that’s been largely skipped over in recent hotel building cycles. This is an ideal neighborhood for leisure and business travelers—particularly those who wish to experience the city as locals do. The hotel lies in the heart of one of the city’s best residential communities with ample parks, restaurants, retail and historic charm; and it’s just minutes away from Midtown, Downtown, Times Square, Harlem and all the other great areas of Manhattan.”

NYLO New York City will replace an existing hotel, currently named On The Ave. The renovations that are under way include a complete refurbishment of all areas of the hotel and the addition of a destination lobby bar and lounge. The new design will be consistent with NYLO’s loft/urban/industrial style meshed with a contemporary take on the era of the Roaring 20’s, Prohibition, Jazz and Bohemian lifestyle. The hotel, which is owned by an affiliate of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., will remain open during the renovation.

Jeffrey Fitts, Lehman’s head of real estate, said, “NYLO has proven to be a very creative, strong and accretive brand. We look forward to the potential for enhanced value that will result from the renovation and rebranding of this significant asset to a NYLO Hotel.”
